This is especially for you, amok.
Don't go near that elevator - that's just what they want us to do... trap us in a steel box and take us down to the basement.
Re: Venture Bros - rules & peanut gallery
Just a heads up that there is a risk that I'll be a bit late in calling nightfall at the end of day 1---if so, it shouldn't be more than hour late.

I'm really getting into this, though I suspect I'd be hopeless myself. I almost wish I was playing - there's one player in particular who just seems so scummy! I'll have to wait and see.
And Feck is out! I'd hardly seen him play.

[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

My game is going to be simple, it would have to be given the average iq of the players. That's why you need to play, you'll raise the average.Callan wrote:Rules.Psychoserenity wrote:OK thanks
First of all though, is there a thread or explanation of the general rules you're using here? I looked on wiki but I'm not sure most of that relates.
I can't imagine why a nice boy like you wants to get into this quagmire, dear heart.
Anyhoo...
Basically, it's good vs.evil, as most titanic struggles generally are.
The good team are Town, the evil team are the Scum.
In a very basic vanilla game (such as DP keeps promising - DO NOT BELIEVE DP EVER - if he tells you the sky is blue and the grass is green, go over to the window and check for yourself), Scum will be a small team compared to town - maybe 3 or 4, depending on how many players there are in the game.
Scum may PM each other, and will have a writeboard on which to plot their evil. Town can only communicate on the public thread.
Scum may kill a Town player every game night. They may have other fancy powers too.
Every game day, one player is lynched by general vote. Town hope this player will be scum, while scum will try to hide themselves and get a Townie lynched instead.
Some Townies may also have fancy powers that their owners can use during the game night - the Doc/Bodyguard can protect one player from night actions, the Blocker can stop another player performing any night actions, the Vigilante can kill at night etc etc. These players are known as Specials, and they will be trying hard not to come to the attention of the Scum team - AND to survive as long as they can - AND to make the right choices for their team. No pressure, then.
There may also be Indies - players on neither side, with their own win conditions.

And those Zumwalts are already useless, they can be taken out with an ICBM.
The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
