Strauss-Kahn Set Up?

Post by Schneibster » Tue Nov 29, 2011 8:06 am

New information has emerged in the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn. It's quite the furor over in France; Sarkozy's conservative party is rumored to have hacked Strauss-Kahn's Blackberry, which has since disappeared, and video from security cameras has been found of two men dancing a victory dance and exchanging high-fives after one of them talked with his accuser after the alleged incident.

One of his staunchest allies denies the idea of a setup as a "conspiracy theory." No idea what the goings-on are there.

Sarkozy denies everything. The hotel denies everything.

Just for grins, here's the Torygraph's account; it has handy links to the other components of the story, at least from their POV. Let it never be said that Da Schneib is not fair and balanced. :nyan:

What I find the most amusing is that he was taken down in the run up to the current Euro crisis.

The woman who accused him was somewhat dodgy, as I recall...

Or was alleged to be, anyway...

The New York DA dropped the case when they started finding discrepancies in her story.

I'm amazed at what passes for a socialist these days.
A Jet Setting womanizing life of luxury paid for by taxpayers as he pretends to help the poor.

You can fly coach and stay in budget hotels while you enjoy your gourmet meals at The Olive Garden washed down with $6 glasses of wine.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Even though the guy is infamous as a horndog, and I generally detest him, if he'd done what he's accused of, odds are that he would have been either sent to the pen as a rapist, or to the loonybin as a sicko long before.

I do know I expressed it felt like a setup like 6 months ago, I don't kjnow if I did here.

but it was enough for the guy's try for the French presidency to be scuppered, which led to much drama among the "socialists" and eventually hurt them some.Hopefully not enough that szarkoszyt will get a second term.

I'm not so sure it was Sarkozy. S-K was, after all, the head of the IMF. And here we are in the middle of a Eurozone financial crisis.

I'm not sure I buy that coincidence any more than I buy the one with the Pakistani border posts over the weekend, after the string of embarrassments of the Pakistani military starting with bin Laden next to their training base, and most recently including the Pakistani ambassador to the US writing a memo to us claiming a coup against Gilani and Zardari.

I haven't the slightest idea who it was... anyway, I didn't want that horndog for my president, unless he did a Henry IV and guaranteed a pretty girl for every French male to bang every week.

You might've liked his policies at the IMF. Though I am just handwaving, I'm not sure whether he was for or against austerity.

His policies at the IMF? look, I know what he did at the IMF about as much as the agrarian policies of Meiji era Japan...

Well, the IMF is the big outside force for austerity that the ECB keeps pointing at. S-K being a socialist might be more likely to be against austerity.

I pay a fair bit of attention to what my central bank (the Fed) does. IMHO if you don't you're ripe for plucking.

Given that the IMF has 60 years of hisstory of being the North's watchdog enforcing policies that have been keeping poor countries from countering some of our more noxious economic practices, and that he's a caviar lefty, I'm pretty sure his version of "for or against austerity" is even more relative than a set of einsteinian equations.

At this point it doesn't matter why they're for or against austerity, only whether they're for or against it.

Enjoy the rollercoaster.

All too happy to jump in with unsubstantiated allegations against a rich black man, but when it comes to a rich white man, the charges must have been trumped up, eh, Schneibster?
