If you grow up in a world like that - it is not only rational, but also the sensible thing to do.

Do you lie awake at night thinking of all the insects you have killed over the years? Probably not. It can be that unimportant.

If it was a matter of survival, I'd have sex with ANY fit woman for money.

I'd like to think I'd retain ethics, and in fact ethics is designed to work in extreme circumstances, but I have to admit to incomplete confidence in my ability to sacrifice my life.

I like to LAF(Life Action Filter). Over the last couple of years have developed a set of 6 questions I ask myself before taking any ethically or morally ambiguous action. I ask myself the questions below and if I can honestly answer yes to them then I will take the action.

1) Is it honorable?
2) Is it noble?
3) Is it moral?
4) Is it ethical?
5) Does it make a difference?
6) Does is help people out?

In other words I would rather sacrifice myself than have to live with myself knowing I did not take action to help another out.
