Oh yeah. That fucking pissed me off no end. Half-Vulcan my arse. 2 completely different species from 2 completely different planets with 2 completely different evolutions...? Impossible. Also, having sex with an alien should be deemed every bit immoral as having sex with a goat. Fucking stupid I thought. And their lazers having recoil? Me arseJadestone wrote:I realize that they were trying to portray Spock as caught between two very different species and that he was emotionally conflicted--wanting to be a "proper" Vulcan but still suffering with higher emotions than the others around him.
New Star Trek film looks incredible!

I think you're holding it to a higher standard than it deserves. It was just a movie.Animavore wrote:Oh yeah. That fucking pissed me off no end. Me bollox. If I had of made this movie those glaring fuck-ups would not be there. The opinion it was just a movie I do not agree with at all. If you're going to spend that much on something and then sell it to a science-fiction audienec you'd wanna have your facts straight. I thought they did have their facts straight in the beginning when a hole blow in the side of the hull sucking a person and all sound out in to space but, only 2 minutes after this they completely contradicted it by having the Romulan ship groaning as the doors opened.Gawdzilla wrote:I think you're holding it to a higher standard than it deserves. Why on earth would it be 'immoral' to have sex with a goat? I mean if the goat and the girl really love each other, and practice safe sex, just what is wrong with it?Animavore wrote: Also, having sex with an alien should be deemed every bit immoral as having sex with a goat. Fucking stupid
I thought Simon Pegg's accent was fucking perfect! If you think carefully, you will realize most of the world over here (N.A.) won't know the difference anyway. You all sound the same to me (UK accents). From Wales to the Queen, it all sounds like those UKers are having us on with silly accents (like Python's Silly Walks)
I thought it was a great flick, and even better, there was this fat old guy whose big mostly-shiny head was in the way, but as soon as Spocks first scene rolled, he got up and left sighing dramatically.
The shiny round head gone out of the way, the rest of the movie was even better.
I didn't see the Nokia ad (good thing the shiny-head was still there at that time).

How would you even shag an alien, would they not have a totally different genital configuration? It annoys me that all these things in Star Trek are humanoid. They would have a total different evolution, they just wouldn't be like us at all.
Simon Peggs accent sucked mincy little faggot balls.

I thought we had already established that it was one of those 'UK' accents...Animavore wrote:Simon Peggs accent sucked mincy little faggot balls.
And just WHAT is wrong with mincy little faggot balls?

I loved Zachary as Spock, but then I think he's a fantastic actor anyway (I got a bit hooked on Heroes) and I liked the storyline, and Scottie was fab, but I was hoping for more of the witty banter and repertoire of the main characters that was in the originals. Maybe if there's going to be a series of these films, then that may develop as the actors gel.

Also I think they explained it in one episode (however I haven't seen it, only heard reference to it)... Ah. Here we are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chase_ ... eneration)
But I think it is mostly because of budget costs and the computer animation capabilities of the time.Wikipedia wrote:The recorded image of an alien humanoid is projected to the assembled company, and it explains that its race is responsible for the presence of life in the Alpha Quadrant. When its race first explored the Alpha Quadrant there had been no life. The alien ends its message by saying that it hopes that the knowledge of a common origin will help produce peace.

Lucas managed fine with the same technology, and at least his aliens look alien.

But he did movies, not tv shows. Correct me if I'm wrong but the former usually has a larger budget.
