Re: O'Reilly: Pepper Spray Is a Food Product
Nothing factually incorrect in those statements. OC (pepper) spray is derived from a food product, that's a fact.Schneibster wrote:Billo Lielly (aka Billo the Clown, aka Bill O'Reilly of Faux Entertainment) allowed the claim on his show on national TV that the pepper spray used at UC Davis, for which two police and a chief of police got suspended, is a "food product."
These people just lie. They'll say anything at all, no matter how big a lie it is and no matter how badly they're going to look for lying when everyone knows.
Watch the video for yourself here.“Pepper spray, that just burns your eyes, right?” O’Reilly asked Kelly.
“Right,” Kelly said. “I mean, its like a derivative of actual pepper. It’s a food product, essentially.”
The pepper spray is 1,000 times hotter than a habanero pepper. And food goes in your mouth; can you imagine putting habanero juice in your eye? How about something hotter? I have seen people required to sign a release before being allowed to eat a habanero burger. And I have seen a grown man cry because he got a habanero seed up the back of his nose laughing while eating one. And he was a bold dude. Seriously.

Been there, done that. As part of police training most cops (including me) have to take a hit, just like they have to take a taser hit before being certified to use one. It sucks giant donkey dick, that's what it's like. But it won't kill you or permanently harm you. Takes about 20 minutes before you can be fully functional again. No residual effects once you've had your eyes washed out and skin washed off.Pappa wrote:I'd quite like to get sprayed with pepper spray just to find out what it's like.

Plenty of suits filed, maybe. Number to be successful: Zero.Schneibster wrote:Hey, over here we give 'em guns. The guy was carryin' one and didn't use it.Clinton Huxley wrote:Next - police to be issued with salt spray and vinegar cannon.
But nobody did anything until this guy assaulted people with pepper spray. And over here we call that assault. That cop will be lucky to get away without being charged with it. He might not.
Like I've said several times, these people are a liability problem. The first Occupy-related lawsuit has been filed, though I consider it chickenshit so I haven't said anything here yet. I predict a shitload.
The police were operating fully within their authority to remove protesters from a public sidewalk after numerous warnings they would be pepper-sprayed. The protesters will lose because they were violating the law by obstructing a public sidewalk and disobeyed lawful orders to disperse. The suits will be dismissed one right after another.
What's more, the officers themselves are immune from being sued because they were acting within the lawful scope of their duties. The university may get sued, but even if the protesters win, all they will do is get money from the university, which (if not paid by insurance) will reduce services to UC Davis students in the future.

I think you will run into a little thing called the Constitutional right to protest.Seth wrote:Plenty of suits filed, maybe. Oh, wait. The US Constitution was repealed 10 years ago. My mistake.
Re: O'Reilly: Pepper Spray Is a Food Product
The protesters had a constitutional right to peacefully assemble and petition their government for redress of grievances and a constitutional right to engage in free speech while doing so, including some forms of expressive speech, all of which are subject to reasonable time, place and manner restrictions by the government. Unfortunately for them, obstructing a public sidewalk after being told to move by the police is not among their constitutional rights, and that's what they were sprayed and arrested for doing. The details matter, which is something that you evidently don't understand.Gawd wrote:I think you will run into a little thing called the Constitutional right to protest.Seth wrote:Plenty of suits filed, maybe. And waterboarding isn't torture, but just an "enhanced interrogation technique"

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

p.s. So where can I get some of this pepper spray? I haven't seen it in grocery stores yet. If it's a food product, I'm assuming it's like Pam? You can spray it on your pans before cooking? Sounds yummy

Re: O'Reilly: Pepper Spray Is a Food Product
Absolutely not. It's a crime to possess either CS (mace) or OC (pepper) spray in the UK. The half-wits in charge have decided that citizens are simply not allowed to carry ANY defensive weapons at all, which is why street crime is so rampant in the UK. I had a friend who visited the UK some years ago who had a small aerosol tear-gas cannister as her key fob, and she very nearly went to prison when Customs found it at the airport.Gawdzilla wrote:Do the mails allow it to be sent there?Pappa wrote:I'd quite like to get sprayed with pepper spray just to find out what it's like.

Which is the point of a protest - to not move when ordered to and force the authorities into taking action that can then be used to promote sympathy for the protesters. Which is exactly how it is playing out. Fox News is a mouthpiece for the powers that be and can be expected to spin it the other way.Seth wrote:The police were operating fully within their authority to remove protesters from a public sidewalk after numerous warnings they would be pepper-sprayed.
