Gesude the fact that I'd need subs, I'd rather be buggered with a sandpaper wrapped dildo than contribute to the disney coffers... I know people who may take their kids to that movie next fall, but I won't approve. I may DL a pirated version when one is available.

It better not be How to Train Your Dragon with bears. That would blow. If not, looks good so far. And yeah, Billy Connolly!

I does look uncomfortably similar to How to Train Your Dragon, now you mention it. Still, at least it's not another Cars movie.

Svarty, I have no use for Disney. Many many years ago, they were synonymous with quality. Nowadays they're synonymous with drek. But this is Pixar, which just happens to be owned by Disney now, but which nevertheless appears to remain somewhat autonomous.

Word is that the execs finally realised the people least served in the industry are the people who spend most per flick, eight to fourteen year old girls. Seems they were stunned by the success of the High School Caterwauling series and Twiglit. So this is designed for that market specifically. Word also is that its utterly great. I'm not certain about that having not seen it, but I'm not an eight to fourteen year old girl, it's not made for me.

Expect the next decade to be filled with "little girl empowerment" movies. I'm all for it, as long as I don't have to watch them.

Heh heh you said taint heh heh

I know the Disney squeamishness, but they own everything-- even Broadway (so I've made my living under the ominous shadow of mouse ears.)

Plus, this is Pixar, which still does good work, I think.

Ah, well. I feel like the daughter of the laird who can fight with the boys is an old enough trope to predate "girl power!" Plus, I'm glad there's a non-Princess Disney heroine again-- It's been a long time.

Pixar t'aint been tarnished as far as I can see. They've maintained their own identify and integrity, it seems to me.

Heh!

Course I haven't seen Cars 2, which I heard was gahdawful.

Cars was, to me, their one mis-step. Although a weak Pixar film is still better than most any other animated film. I never saw Cars 2, though. Not really interested :(

LOL - she's competing "for her own hand." Maybe this should be in the "I just had a wank" thread! :tut:

Not sure what's special about this movie, but I'd probably see it. Unfortunately, SWMBO'd doesn't like animated films, so we'll likely not go to the movies for it.
