A place downtown does an absolutely nom Bleu Pair pizza. I don't go there often because I used to drink here and it brings back so many memories, mostly foggy ones.Pensioner wrote:Blue cheese is good wtf, pears and walnuts?Bella Fortuna wrote: But pears on pizza can be excellent - combined with blue cheese and walnuts.

Re: Pizza - America's Favourite Vegetable!
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Had two pies from my son in law's pizza shop. One California Dream for Mrs. Lak, which is a white pizza with artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes and fresh basil. Mine was traditional red with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and anchovies. Washed down with copious Coronas. It was decidedly nom.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Of course, naan, being usually stuffed rather than covered with anything, it's a kind of calzone rather than a proper pizza.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.

I met a woman a while back with a baby named Aslan. I said, "Oh, you must be a fan of the Narnia books."
"Everyone says that. Funny. No, it's Turkish. It means 'Lion.' "
Huh.

If I do, I'll tell her that she speaks Narnese, not proper Turkish... I've come up with a lot of "Arslan"s in history (common nickname for great warriors), even found it in toponyms... but all the Rless Aslans I know of were from outside the Turkish linguistic area, so deformation and ignorance are my best bet... Quite possibly through Easten Europe and the Slavic regions.
