Most who want reform in this area are not part of the Occupy movement. Heck, I want reform in this area, and I'm certainly not part of the Occupy movement

Actually, this is one thing that both the Occupy Movement AND the Tea Party Movement want reform in. Too bad we want it to happen in totally different ways.

I never pointed that out...I simply said that the purpose of protest is to bring attention to a problem. The movement has offered tons of ideas for solutions in regards to reform, they just don't share the same solutions the tea party has, which are the ones that appeal to YOUR logic.

The problem is, first, oil subsidies are a small fraction of entitlement spending, and cutting them won't have much of an effect on solving the budget deficit, and second, doing so raises the price of energy and fuel far beyond the cost of the subsidies and tax breaks, which costs consumers even more on a daily basis.

And the wealthier the wealthiest are, the more money they have to invest starting businesses and providing poor people with jobs, which is exactly why the after-tax income of EVERYONE, including the bottom 1 percent, has been steadily rising, as your own source proves. Again, your complaint is merely one of Marxist redistributionist class-warfare propaganda objecting to the fact that the top 1 percent made much more money much faster than the rest, but you have yourself destroyed the canard that the "poor are getting poorer" in the US. The facts, which YOU cited, show that every time the top earners of the productive class make money, the economic situation of EVERYONE ELSE improves, and that when the top productive class earners make less money, like in 1987, 1988-1991, and 2000-2002, everyone else either stagnates or loses ground, and in 2002, when top productive earners really took off, everyone else's economic condition improved more rapidly.
