Considering they got several hundred tons of yellowcake by diverting it from Euratom before any of that, I'd say it's moot.

ETA: Gawd apparently missed that part.

Can I give you the bleeding obvious conclusion? The US supplied the uranium, and put out that story as a cover?
For fuck's sake, this is nuclear materials for the US military, not bagels. Do you think Mr. Cohen the accountant ran out of fingers?
You're the one doing the somersaults not only of logic but of belief.

Proposition: The USA is officially involved at the highest levels in arming Israel with nuclear weapons.

Evidence for the above: None to really speak of. At various times: Prevarication, indecision, turning a blind eye, incompetence ... all yes. But actual direct involvement? Nada

Conclusion: It's all be being kept super-secret, so much so that even the likes of Seymour Hersh* has never gotten wind of it.

Just how ridiculous is that? Where are the whistle-blowers? You'd think by now someone would have leaked something. Or maybe it's all been somehow suppressed, just like the faked moon landings or the 9/11 inside job. [/sarcasm]

*And amongst many other things, he has investigated the Israeli nuclear program. He even wrote a book about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Samson ... %28book%29
Gawd wrote:I would also like to add, Klr where do you think Israel has obtained its uranium and enriched it since 1973? Answer: America.
Since you ask: South Africa - 50 tons of uranium in 1977, which Israel is apparently more than capable of enriching and reprocessing by itself.
Wow, didn't know South Africa was still controlled by the White clan and Israel is still doing business there. FYI, South Africa is anti-Israel these days because they see that Israel is an apartheid society.

Agreed.
Barring that, there is no justification for preventing Iran from making them.
I disagree. If you have two problems, fixing one of them, while not as good as fixing both of them, is usually better than fixing neither of them.
So if your neighbour has sworn to kill you, and you see him buying a gun, and the police won't take it off him, you would still think it's better if you don't get one?
Israel should never have been allowed to get nukes, and should be forced to give them up.
Barring that, Iran has every right to develop nukes. It may be better for YOU and ME if they don't get them. That's not the point. You have no right to prevent it.
What does "right" have to do with it? Buying a gun if you see your neighbor buy a gun isn't a matter of right - it's a matter of power. And no, I wouldn't be stupid enough to buy a gun if it looked like my neighbor would shoot me for it.

But hey, I'm okay with symmetry. Maybe if Israel destroys Iran's nukes, Iran can destroy Israel's nukes in return. Then neither of them will have nukes - problem solved.

This situation is intractable and it will end bad. If things get really out of hand, which they easily could on the day, there'll be high yield nukes exploded in the upper atmosphere to knock out electronics. Buy essentials. Store a netbook and mp3 player along with a radio and clock-work torch in a tin to keep out the EMP. Even if you are living safely far away from a montropolis or military area you should still put the elctronics in a tin. The EMP will fry the wiring, don't let it. See you all on the other side of the eschaton?

You wouldn't get a gun, because you think the police would protect you.
Iran has no policeman. They have the same rights of self protection as Israel.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

You don't need to worry, your American aurora will protect you from the laws of physics where a Faraday cage can't.

Low probability events do happen given enough time. That is why I have suggested saving a few items. If it does spiral which with so much chaos, so few reasonable options it could easily do then you should prepare for the worst case scenario. If nothing happens you've wasted a couple of bucks on a tin. Do the risk/benefit and remove the tin foil hat of the normalcy bias first?

Dude, I have links to comics that feature a nasty sysop torturing the undergrads by telling them to be sure to wrap their floppy disks with aluminum foil and hold them above their heads while they cross the quad because the Earth's magnetic field is particularly strong today.

Just sayin'.

You are right. Come the day, should it occur, things like a tin of old civilization discards are going to be less use than zero. I guess it feels like I'm doing something by saying this because really nothing is possible to prepare for the worst case scenario. And in a matter of months it is entirely possible we'll have a winter lasting all year.

You just said you're a liar. Racism is racism, reflected or not. Two wrongs don't make a right and claiming they do is another typical racist activity.

You're part of the problem, not part of the solution.
My apologies. I should have said, "you've just said you lied."
