Old Time Radio Shows

Post by Bella Fortuna » Fri Nov 18, 2011 4:12 am

I love them and grew up listening to old recordings of them, suspense/mystery shows particularly. I just found a great site if anyone else likes them: http://www.escape-suspense.com

Awesome. I love radio theater.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

Three of my favourite old time radio shows:
My Word
Just a Minute
The Goon Show

I like the old sci-fi radio dramas. I've got the 60 'best' selected by Ray Bradbury. They're all pretty good, some really good.

I played some recordings I have of the Goon Show for my son a couple of times - he had absolutely no clue what was going on but he says he liked it. :nutter:

Radio's just not the same any more ... :ddpan:

Have a look around for recordings of the other two. I am confident you will love them.
