On a more serious note: From the article, it's clear that the US military can't believe their luck. They're not buying these for spare parts. These are all recently upgraded aircraft, with plenty of airframe and engine life in them. Except for minor equipment differences, they are the same as the aircraft the US operates themselves.

As much as I despise our current British government their cuts are at least including the armed forces, can you imagine the US cutting the army numbers by 20%

Hey, at least we will eventually be getting the new Joint Strike Fighter or whatever its called. Should be ready by 2030, will cost about £1billion EACH and, so I've read, is a bit of a dog.
As far as I can tell, current UK defence policy involves pulling suggestions out of a hat at random.

In it's day, the RAF version was a decent ground attack plane, with the benefit of still being operational when conventional airfield were wrecked...
