So last night I was wading through TVtropes to find a trope about poor research on T.V. shows. This lead me to the definition I was looking for which was also known as "Dan Browned" which gave me a chuckle but it said on it not to be confused with "Ben Drowned".
I should have left it there, but as is more often than not the case with such things my curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on it and fell into a bottomless pit. First of all I began reading about a 4chan user had a grim tale to tell about a dead child, a copy of "Majora's Mask" that began fucking with him and some entity that claimed to be or was pretending to be the spirit of a dead child which acted virally as he put his videos on youtube and his tales on various sites. An example of creepypasta, I was informed.
I spent the rest of the night examining this phenomenon as it is great. Slenderman, The Lavender Town Tone, even "who is phone" all made me chuckle mostly at the inventiveness and originality of some of these rank amateurs, doing it for others entertainment, not for fame nor money, but for the sheer deliciousness of being creeped out.
As is often the case with these things I'm either years behind or hit upon something no one is interested in, but nevertheless I thought I'd hit you with my favourite so far.

This one really struck me. It's short, to the point and perfectly pitched and paced as well as using a brilliant technique of setting it as just another conversation on past things, which friends often do have.
But it's so much more than just stories. Check out the eerie "MARIO" hack, some of the artworks and args being done. I spent almost five hours on this, which is about how many hours of T.V. I watch in a week. It may not be slick, some of them are preposterous or badly thought out, but who cares, if it does the job.
Anyway... Creepypasta. Check it out if you haven't already and if anyone is interested in perhaps working the concept, let me know.
Creepypasta.
