Revenge voting? Nope that isn't considered scummy at all.andrewclunn wrote:Well, I'll just accept (even if I'm not entirely certain I agree) that differences in the standard game mechanics (scum always receiving fake roles for example) result in different optimal town strategies, and adapt my play accordingly. The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

It's neither, and well thought out on my part(IMO, YMMV), although granted that I haven't shared those reasons yet.charlou wrote:Outing if you're on the point of being lynched? Yes, we do that. That's when some scum players will fake claim, by the way, creating wifom ... that latter point being another reason mass role claiming too early doesn't work well for town. Mass claiming later in the game ... after a few nights and some info has been gathered ... has shown to be very advantageous for town, though.andrewclunn wrote:If it looks like I'm going to get lynched, why not out my information to save myself? Even if I get killed that night, it will be one less kill form scum starting day 2 because they had to waste their night kill on me, rather than somebody else because town lynched me. That's what I'm not getting about this no to claims, but yes to lynch on day 1 approach.Feck wrote:Then scum would be able to target youandrewclunn wrote:RC = roll claim. PC = power claim. I would RC as the name of my character. If I had some special ability (such as role blocker or doctor for example) that's what I would share for a PC. Man, things are very different here.
There is one game I recall where a certain newcomer to ratz mafia managed to get a mass role claim within the first couple of days and his team went on to win the game. He turned out to be scum don, iirc.![]()
However, I agree with Athene's take ... for now. There's a possibility Andrew is the traitor, but I'm leaning townie with different mafia cultural baggage.
This game of amok's is reminding me of her last game where she got kinda caught up in defending her idea and therefore didn't seem to get on with scum-hunting ... she flipped town that game. amok, I get what you're saying, but you seem to be missing a couple of points that have been made more than once. I agree with you (and UT's recent post) that MZ's info doesn't clear him.
DP's looking like getting my vote today. The vote on Andrew looks opportunistic and clunky.

I'm biting my tongue here, Feck
Andrew, I skimmed that game's first few pages - yep, very different mafia culture.

She seems to be making sense and catching a few of the same vibes I've been catching. Always good to get her viewed early as well in case I'm wrong.
##Vote Charlou##
Something seems off about her game but it's hard to quantify. Gonna go with my gut.

i think mz, char and b.tern would be my top three so far today. I'm getting a town feel from shizzle, or at least a dramatic shift from his last scum game.

her play screams sucking up, whiteknighty scum to me. This post in particular:
If it looks like I'm going to get lynched, why not out my information to save myself? Even if I get killed that night, it will be one less kill form scum starting day 2 because they had to waste their night kill on me, rather than somebody else because town lynched me. Outing if you're on the point of being lynched? Yes, we do that. That's when some scum players will fake claim, by the way, creating wifom ... that latter point being another reason mass role claiming too early doesn't work well for town. Mass claiming later in the game ... after a few nights and some info has been gathered ... has shown to be very advantageous for town, though.

dammit, so you mean my initial reaction to charlou was right, that she is scummy? I'm going to have to go reread her posts, because I thought I saw town charlou posting later on...
