When the real improvements come along, they're usually not announced with fanfare.

This one is going to make a huge difference in all sorts of ways; cleaning will be revolutionized. Cleaning of everything will be revolutionized. The nozzle described in the linked article is going to save energy, save lives, and save water. At the same time, it's going to make everything cleaner, because you'll be able to use it to clean things that couldn't be cleaned before.

Not only that, but it doesn't require as much soap. So it will clean the environment up, too. Great stuff. A British invention, too, so cheers for that.

the first look at the two guys pic in the article, the first thought I had was "looks like the one on the left is pouring some beer in the cup" lordy, lordy...where is my mind!

Not sure how useful that would be for dishwashing...I hand wash dishes and the only time I use the sprayer is for rinsing the first part of the soapy dishes....then when that water has collected in the tub, I use it to rinse the rest of my dishes.

But I do see the many other benefits. Very cool!

I use my shark steam cleaner in the kitchen all the time...I'm very sensitive to the smell and taste of chemicals and don't want them to ruin my food.

I've been bucking for a regular dishwasher so don't tell my husband about this...he'll just give me the same excuse he gives me about other upcoming great inventions.

You should see my dishwasher. I got a Fisher-Paykel. It uses 1/4 of the water and 1/3 of the detergent and 1/3 of the power, and has five cycles instead of two and is quiet. I bet they can reduce the water usage, cycle time, detergent usage, and power usage even turther, maybe halve each one or better.

I'd be surprised if it was an American made appliance. It's also more expensive than the average dishwasher. Is it as popular as a Kenmore?

It's beyond me why we don't share the same technology for home appliances with the rest of the developed world. When I visit my relatives in France, Germany and the UK I marvel at all their low resource usage appliances. Also, dryers for clothing (one of the biggest energy suckers) are uncommon...they just hang their wet stuff on a line if outside, and on a rack if inside.

America's gross consumption of energy and water resources when it comes to home appliances is shameful.
