I refer you to my previous posts.

Argument from authority fallacy much?
Argument from authority is only a fallacy if the cited authority isn't actually an authority.

This one has a Nobel Prize.

You should probably bother to actually research what logical fallacy arguments mean before you try to use them in an actual argument.

Just sayin'.
Incorrect.
Oh, really?

This fallacy is committed when the person in question is not a legitimate authority on the subject.
Duh.
From wiki:-

Most of what authority a has to say on subject matter S is correct.
a says p about S.
Therefore, p is correct.

OK.
Actually, I didn't make any comment at all about whether-or-not the summer riots had anything to do with the economic crisis (although as it happens, I think the cultural attitudes embodied by the rioters has been brewing within certain strata of British society for probably at least two-or-three decades now).

You were the one trying to imply that these riots were part of some growing economic/political awareness among the general population - linked in some way to students and the St. Paul's occupiers - and it was that implication alone I was disputing, not any influence current economic conditions may (or may not) have played in the riots.

Some poor ethnic communities didn't riot. The Chinese didn't riot, the indians didin't riot and even the poverty stricken bangledeshi's didn't riot. The ones who did looting the shop appears to be unduly that subculture influenced by black american rap with its violent me-first messages. And with David Starkey I have to say some of the whites involved seemed to be those who have culturally turned 'black' with the same language characterised by homophobia, seeing women as property or whores, a need for fast cars, drugs and medalians...etc. :smoke:

No I was here to dispute your implication in this post and this post that recent rioting in England was part of some kind of growing political/economic awareness or movement, rather than a bunch of thugs going on a mass free-for-all rampage because they felt they could get away with it.

Apparently rather than either concede or contest the point, you decided you'd seamlessly change the subject.

Ummm, I need to point out that it's rioting, and they're short of money because the economy's fucked up which is pretty much why they're rioting.

It's kinda obvious.
