Occupy Movement Links To Communism?

The very term 'occupy' implies taking land by force from a potentially legimate landowner? :smoke:

Bias is a given. The question still needs asking since history shows how popular movements are easily subverted by powerful idealogical interests. :smoke:

Obviously they'll hide and use every imaginable deception to achieve power. Many left-leaning intellectuals are closet communists only afraid of the outcry but fully embracing the idealogy, at least here in the UK....I would imagine it is the same in the US? :smoke:

Nope you can say you are a communist or very far left in the UK and they won't ban the sale of your books or drive you out of the entertainment industry .

Depends on the intended market. If Boris Johnson admitted to being a communist his life would be ruined for instance. :smoke:

Mainly because it would contadict his entire past history...

In much the same way, my life at Rationalia would be ruined if I confessed to being a Rechabite...

The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

It is by its nature linked to communism irrespective of the loaded language (or otherwise) used. Communism simply described the power relationships between large groups/classes of people. The bourgeoisie, versus the proletariat in terms that made sense in early to mid 20th century. The proletariat, in this model have only one thing to sell and therefore to live off - their labour, whereas the bourgeoisie either own the means of production or are heavily invested in it.

The only thing that has really changed over recent decades is that the owners own more, are fewer in number and the proletariat's labour is increasingly irrelevant to the owners.

Said it all in the words of a true dialectical marxist there, far more succint than my waffle. :smoke:

Here is the heir apparent to Marx himself speaking. Fall in love with hard work or hard work will fall in love with you? In the old soviet days that would include a long holiday in siberia I figure? :smoke:

Wouldn't call ZIzek the heir apparent to Marx, although, the guy is a genius. Thanks for the link, Zizek has written some of the most important books in recent history no doubt.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.
