I love the Man Who Would Be King
And, I can always watch the Shawshank Redemption. Excellent.
I like to like 2001 A Space Odyssey, but I really don't like to watch it....

A rarity: A "modern" movie that is many ways also like a movie from (say) the 1950's. Don't know if I can articulate it any better than that.Animavore wrote:Someone had to do it.klr wrote:

1. I'm going with LOTR, too - if we can count it as one film...?
2. Can't decide between "Life of Brian" and "Holy grail", so they count as one film, too!
3. One flew over the cuckoo's nest.

Very interesting. I wonder how effective this technique really is/was? I never got the feeling the narrator suggests it is supposed to create when watching the movie.Mr P wrote: Funny you should mention that:

sorry for the impatience - would just love to see it before I fall asleep, so we're talking of mere minutes here...
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

It was cliché ridden. It should've been terrible. Just goes to show it's not necessarily the story it's the way it's told the maketh the film.klr wrote:A rarity: A "modern" movie that is many ways also like a movie from (say) the 1950's.
