Microsoft Office 365
Anyone have Microsoft Office 365?
Is it worth it?
How well does it work?
I'm kinda looking for something that will basically let me take my laptop anywhere, and access everything - outlook email - documents on my computer, all that stuff. It looks like it fills the bill. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it, though.

Re: Microsoft Office 365
Short answer "no".
Question: Do you really need Office 365 to be able to access and edit documents on-line? Surely there must be alternatives.

Not very helpful.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Anybody can Open an Office online. :cough:

On a not unrelated note: A user rang me this morning to say that she couldn't save changes to a spreadsheet that I had made available for download.
Me: "you have to download it first, then edit it ..."
So yes, there are advantages to cloud computing, but I remain to be convinced myself.

Yeah, I knew.
Anyway, I've used various "on-line" apps, and I've generally found them falling way short of "traditional" products. Maybe it's just me ...

Re: Microsoft Office 365
My situation is this:PordFrefect wrote:Google documents doesn't work for you?
I have, say, a hundred folders on my desktop computer I may or may not access on a daily basis. Inside those folders are subfolders, and documents (word, .pdf, etc.).
I need to keep all those documents organized as they are, by folder. But, I would like to be able to access them using any computer, anywhere. I.e. if I'm traveling, I want to be able to access my files, edit, and do whatever, and then when I get back to the office, have the files automatically sync so I don't wind up with different versions on my laptop and different versions on my desktop, etc.

Does that allow a person to access their myriad of files and folders from remote computers?Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:http://www.openoffice.org/klr wrote:Not very helpful.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Anybody can Open an Office online. :cough:
(can't be on a per document or a la carte basis - has to be access to an entire C drive full of folders and subfolders, and files contained therein).

Re: Microsoft Office 365
Well, Office 365 is supposed to have that functionality. So, we're talking at cross purposes relative to Open Office - I know that Open Office is useful in many contexts and for most people for personal use. But, I was hoping someone could tell me that Office 365 was worth it or would allow me to feel as if I am at my desk at my office, when I'm across the country.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Damnfino.Coito ergo sum wrote:Does that allow a person to access their myriad of files and folders from remote computers?Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:http://www.openoffice.org/klr wrote:Not very helpful.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Anybody can Open an Office online. :cough:
