Funny. I watched it on Wednesday. Very good movie. The Coen brothers do make some good films.Clinton Huxley wrote:Finally saw True Grit on Friday. Jeff Bridges is a god...

It had an awesome soundtrack. I'd never heard any of the songs before or know who they were though.

I was hanging with a buddy of mine and he was playing a few tracks so I downloaded all of Kavinsky's EP's...I LOVE the main song "Night Call"...also Desire's "Under Your Spell" and "A Real Hero" by College. Makes me want to drive around the city.

Ooh! This Kavinsky is good shit.

The Legend of the Red Dragon - A Romeo and Juliet style plot vying with the main righteous revenge plot stitched together with plot elements so absurd you might laugh. The fight scenes are nothing too special, but if you like sword fighting they're cool. I'm a fan of the absurdist school so I found it very enjoyable with the exception of one plot development I thought was just dumb, but I suppose necessary to the directors to prevent the film from becoming too action oriented. Interesting enough to keep my attention, that's something.

Check out the "Movie Trailers Only" thread in Stage and Screen. There's a Youtube of the trailer. Hurry, it won't be in theaters long.PordFrefect wrote:Hmm didn't know they made a new version. Re: More good movies we've seen.
Meh. I have the patience for a one hour crime drama, but, it takes work to push me into watching a two hour movie.
I watched Red Cliff, part one the other night. It was good. The love interest, Xiao Qiao (played by Chi'ling Lin) makes me, well...

Beyond that, I watched Jane Eyre again. Mia Wasikowska is simply incredible as Jane Eyre. She plays Alice in Burton's Alice In Wonderland, and though I suspect the movie is a dog, I want to see it to see whether Eyre was a fluke, or whether I need to watch more of her.
True Grit has been on the burner for some time (shout out to fellow Minnesotans, Joel and Ethan Coen), I just haven't found the right mood.
Oh, and, in case anyone's interested, yes I'm still listening to R.G.W. on endless repeat. This may go on for days.

Watched The Conspirator - about the trial of some fellows and a lady who conspired to kill Lincoln. It was ok, if you like films that are a bit boring.
