How so? The fact that they're from one particular place doesn't mean that other folks of other races don't have the same attitude. My classmates at High School aspired to nothing more than a factory job that would pay for a TV and enough beer each weekend for them to forget they were working in a factory for the next forty-five years.
I was mimicking the above picture, not replying to you.
As for factory work, it's for 'droids, not humans.
What's funny is the Japanese were making such progress in that direction, until cheap foreign imports killed it.
Fuck robots when you can hire a human for fifty cents an hour.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Which proves humans will put up with shit that will stop a robot dead in its tracks. My sperm-donor worked in a factory until it killed him. No life, just a job and the time when he wasn't doing that job.

Murder rates, gang behaviour, poor housing, food, education, and high rates of criminal behaviour in the Jamaican male population has been well documented for some time. If they found a correlation between a negative perception of schooling and proclivity toward criminal and gang behaviour it's hardly surprising, but not necessarily causative. I think it is symptomatic actually - sour grapes if you like. People do what they have to to survive. In that situation they cannot afford to think long term, such as getting an education so they can be 'successful' in a stagnant job market in their adult years.

The fastest way to stop that is with tariffs. It would then be cost competitive for highly automated factories where workers can get high pay without much of the drudgery. But cheap foreign slave labor forces domestic companies to cut pay to stay competitive.

More automation = less jobs available = more unemployment = rising crime rates
Just because it's a 'shitty' job doesn't mean it would be better to have no job. Where do you envision these employed workers going for work when their jobs are taken by machines? I don't mean to sound like a luddite, but their options are severely limited. It's a recipe for economic and social disaster.

Gosh, the actual definition of a Luddite
More automation = higher productivity = higher wages and employment.

Thank you, I was well aware of that. Care to address the issues?
The issues are, to remind you, where will these factory workers find new employment? How will they feed their families? Is it not a recipe for economic and social disaster?

Indeed? A 'need' you say? Need is demand driven - what is the demand? Greater wealth for the few? Greater return on investment for shareholders? At what cost?
The need for a lot of people is what you seem to say.

Humans of course are not done away with in partially automated factories. There is still human work to be done, machines are still tools that just multiply human effort. Cheaper production through automation (as opposed to foreign labor) allows a high worker output rate which allows high wages and cheaper costs. Lower prices stimulates consumption, and offsets some of the factory losses. Still there will be some manufacturing job losses as fewer people can produce many goods.
The key factor is to make domestic human labor valuable, and you can do that by increasing efficiency and limiting cheap foreign labor options. Ditches don't dig themselves, so you'd be forced to fairly compensate them if it needs to be done.

Tariffs build walls between nations. The boys with the money don't pay attention to the borders. Therefore the money will trump the borders every time.
