Just read the guy let the animals loose, damaged their cages so that they couldn't be re-used, and killed himself. Some animals who were lurking around the corpse had to be 'disposed of.'

They are DANGEROUS wild animals, and they were all released at once and are roaming the community just waiting to eat someone, like someone's child walking home from school. What the fuck did you expect the police to do when there were not enough tranquilizer guns in the whole county to deal with dozens of dangerous animals loose in the community at once. People were, and are in danger and the police did exactly what they had to do.

I certainly hope every person in the community has armed themselves and is looking for these animals and will shoot them on sight, that's the only sane thing to do.

He was arrested in April of 2005 for cruelty and torture of cattle and bison he had on his property, according to the website pet-abuse.com. He was charged with one count of having an animal at large, two counts of rendering animal waste and one count of cruelty to animals.

So it's "torture" of cattle and bison to let them get hunted and eaten by lions, I guess.

Actually, "big game hunters" like to be as safe a possible. That's why they shoot an animal from hundreds of yards away whenever they can.

Which shows how fucking ignorant you are about big game hunting, particularly dangerous game hunting. Most shots at the Big Five dangerous game in Africa take place at 75 yards or less because of the nature of the terrain and habitat.

The tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars that big game hunters spend in Africa go to making life better for the people, and since there are plenty of animals to hunt, indeed an overabundance of some game is the result of human overpopulation and reduction in the predator/prey balance that requires human intervention to keep the animals at healthy, sustainable levels. That money pays for much of the conservation and recovery efforts for endangered species in Africa as well.

The same is true of big-game hunting in the US. Massive numbers of whitetail deer in the east have resulted in forage shortages and illness in part because eco-weenies and bunny-huggers are too stupid to understand that the concept of managing wild game for conservation is different from the idiotic bunny-hugging notion of protecting every individual furry critter on earth and conservation requires culling the herd.

Hunting is a perfectly legitimate way to manage wildlife. It provides billions of dollars to the economy every year and the animals are all consumed, by law, after they are killed.

I'm for harvesting wildlife for food.
I do accept that it was more expedient to kill all the escaped carnivores. They are not equivalent to native wildlife living the wild life. They were captives who don't know the environment they are now loose in. Some of them endangered--unlike deer and elk and moose and antelope. Not the same thing at all and not just a difference in enunciation.
