Read the thread? Start with the first post, that usually helps.
Well Coito seems to be being all serious as if there's some sort of problem. But all that's happened is a student, for her own personal reasons, didn't want to do some classwork. What am I missing?
You know this person well enough to know her motivations?
What? No. That's why I said "her own personal reasons", since nobody else had a problem with it - except now suddenly they seem to, and I don't know why.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I got banned from French classes for telling the new French French teacher we had (on his first day ) that the État Français was a Classic example of French cowardice :ddpan:

serves him right for being from Vichy

I sympathise - racism towards a country isn't the best basis from which to learn its language.

And Vichy was chosen because it had lots of hotel rooms, not on the basis of the politics of the population there.

The reason I started learning French is because in 7th grade we all had to choose between either French or Spanish. I figured Spanish might be more practical living in the US, but there might be more girls in the French classes. I was right.
