O fuck, so we are either going to be dashed against the Scylla of population decrease or drown in the Charybdis of population growth. :panic:

Crumple, in a peculiar way you are kind of entertaining. Like Mistermack, Gawd, Sandinista, Hiyymer and Seth.

More to the point, how did the sheep manage to wipe out so many wolves? I read somewhere that the biggest factor contributing to increasing human population in the past couple of centuries was the development of sewerage systems. The next biggest one was increasingly effective suppression of infectious diseases by other means. The wolves are invisible to the bare eye, and the sheep have beaten them back a fair bit with technology and science.

To be realistic some kind of social innovation that culls a ageing population, at say 70 years, is preferable to the comingchaos from being in denial about the roots of the matter? If suicide booths could be placed in town and city centres, made easily accessible and a pleasant way to go with a voerdose of morphine? and perhaps including a lottery that a family could benefit from the old persons responsible opting out of the rat race? and modern sophisticated advertising solutions applied to the initial public skepticism....it may just work?

I have to say you are right. We are past the stage where boothes would remedy the scale of the situation. I hope it doesn't come to trains and camps yet I can see it happening, especially in the USA where the FEMA camps are already in place, along with plenty of unused rolling stock. :smoke:

It would be far easier to 'remedy' the ageing situation the 'harsh way' in the USA with certain areas, like Florida, becoming enclaves for old folk. Much easier to isolate and locate and disappear people when their ghettoised as European history shows. :smoke: :smoke:

The aging population are a burden only if they don't work and get disproportionate medical care. My prediction is that more of them will continue working if the labor is needed to provide for the population's needs.

As for other issue, maybe we need to reexamine the idea that everyone has a right to unlimited free medical care.

One obvious slot for the elderly is child care. The extended family may make a comeback if the wage-earners have to get out of the house to keep food on the table.

In the civilized Western countries, under population is our problem. Since multiculturalism has been mostly a failure, importing foreigners from more populace nations to offset this is losing popularity. So while much of the rest of the world is over populated, we are left in a situation where we have to encourage women to have more children.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

A saner solution would be to have the over-populating societies have fewer children, of course.
