It's his job to educate the public on the understanding of science. Nice to see he's earning his paycheque

Wow! :fp:

I'm genuinely impressed with Dawkins for even attempting to respond to that. It's just so much stupid, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Cecil Adams in Straight Dope once gave a very polite answer to "why are manhole covers round?"

The guy asking the question did not appear to understand anything about evolution - not even the basic concept. You would have to take him back to the most basic of ideas, and start him again from ground up. Even then, I suspect he would reject the beginnings, and continue to ask dopey questions.

The thing I wonder is if the guy was just plain stupid, or was refusing to learn. Some (most?) anti-evolutionists are like that. You cannot teach them even the most basic concepts, since they reject them and refuse to absorb any knowledge at all about the process.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

It's like the Ray Comfort routine where the guy animal hangs around for millions of years because the female has not been invented.

Conservative fear/hatemongers: "All of these fears ..from..persons who last names are Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc... While these `masters of ceremony' have worn a path from their homes to the nearest banking facilities, the hatred that they have spewed has festered in a populace who not only bubbles over with their own personal insecurities and hatreds but one who is less than informed and ignorant than the norm. Most view these harbingers as being `broadcasters of the news'rather than the opportunists that they are."

Didn't seem that dumb of a question.
Complex organs that develop must always give a competitive advantage at every stage of development or they would never have evolved under natural selection. His specific example of taking a leak was just a WTF.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Not necessarily. As long as they don't put the organism at significant disadvantage they can stick around indefinitely.
