Important science question that has me stumped.

Important science question that has me stumped.

Postby mistermack » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:20 pm

This is a question that's always bothered me.

How come Superman has amazing superhuman powers, and yet he's no more intelligent than the rest of us?
Why hasn't he got super-human intelligence?

Privileged boy, my dad can buy and sell ya!

He's taking some dumbing down pills so he can fall in love with mere earthlings.

Conservative fear/hatemongers: "All of these fears ..from..persons who last names are Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc... While these `masters of ceremony' have worn a path from their homes to the nearest banking facilities, the hatred that they have spewed has festered in a populace who not only bubbles over with their own personal insecurities and hatreds but one who is less than informed and ignorant than the norm. Most view these harbingers as being `broadcasters of the news'rather than the opportunists that they are."

Because his brain is set up to deal with all his super speed and extra powers and not for higher cognitive functions . DUH !
At an early age I sucked up the milk of Homer, Virgil, Horace, Terence, Anacreon, Plato and Euripides, diluted with that of Moses and the prophets.

Maybe the rest of his species do, but he's some kind of kryptonian retard.

It is relative. Superman only seems to have superhuman powers because he can do things humans can't do by virtue of having a body that evolved on a planet with greater gravity. He is normal for his home planet. Gravity does not cause a selection for intelligence.
We live in a free society. We accept that certain actions of the individual aren't always positive for the body politic...

Because he did not go to school on Krypton. He was raised by two ignorant Kansas Creationist farmers and attended the Smallville public school system.

Because everything he does has to be written by human writers, who are by definition not superhuman. Writing for a character whose intelligence greatly exceeds your own is a bit of a problem; such an individual would by definition have to be able to think of things that you can't think of to write that the character thought of them.
