Cheers slack. It's been more or less duplicated now anyway :).
You too Virphen :td:

I happened to just catch Mr. Samsa's post pointing to this forum.
Good to see some familiar faces, and look forward to meeting others. :td:

It does indeed appear that Mazille (science moderator) has been deleted along with all of his posts.

I'm in good company then 13,000 post disappear just like that. Josh Timonen is a true cunt.

If any of you are in contact with starr could you perhaps PM me here? I didn't get the chance to give her my e-mail, and I'd like to talk to get it passed on to her. She'll never get to read my happy birthday PM it seems!
She's a member here - a pretty active one normally too. Keep an eye out for LittleBitofNonsense.

I feel so loved. :FIO: :smooch: :flowers:

I asked XC to change my user name here so I'm starr here now. I'm using my RDF avatar here now too. I love that avatar... Cali made it for me. :flowers:

Thanks for the support Charlou, I very much appreciate it. :hugs:

Thanks everyone. :huggeroo:

This is what I sent to those who were playing a mafia game when the curtain fell. It includes a shout-out to Durro (creator o' the fun), but I can easily extend the same level of appreciation to every other staff member for helping to create a community:
This was a very heavy handed shut-down of the forum. Obviously, Richard and the Powers That Be have a different vision, which is their prerogative, but someone is deeply oblivious to the extraordinary community-building power of the existing forum. How many people have come out as atheists, or have been encouraged to let go of that last thread of doubt, simply because the forum offered numerous ways in which to do so. Checking in with "Old Farts" or playing wonderfully silly games (thank you SO MUCH, Durro!), are just as important as science and philosophy, IMHO. Someone wants this forum to be exclusively highbrow, it seems, but dammit, how boring is that!

I was beginning to feel like I was a part of something wonderful, and I feel like Josh (et. al) have done irreparable damage to that. Maybe things will be fine, but regardless, a message has been sent and received, and it leaves me quite cold. I'm just glad to have connected with like-minded people to the extent that I did, and I'm happy for those who have made friendships through RD.net. Life in the real world includes real people, which is why I'm saddened by Josh's tone and methods; it's as if he forgot who we are.
So, it's time to move on. I'm glad to have found a new home.
Always be yourself...unless you suck.

I am really sorry to see what happened. I feel kinda disappointed, but I imagine you staff must feel really fucking betrayed.

Well, thanks for doing what you did while you did it. I didn't post there all that often, but I'm happy it was there when I needed it.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Has anybody been in contact with Cali? Is he okay? That place was a large part of his life.

Thank you to all about this and other threads on the now defunct RD.net forum.

PS. Looking for a blogger template: 3 columns, dark, something on the gothic vampire side, not very intricate but elegant. If anyone knows of a template like the above PM me. Thanks.

To get the full benefit you'll have to entice more creationist chew-toys for him to play with.

We could take it in turns to pretend to be one... :eddy:

Let's see, how does it go...

"I feel so sorry for all you poor atheists, since, by rejecting the sweet love of Jesus, you have CONDEMNED YOURSELF TO AN ETERNITY OF FLAMES AND DESPAIR"

Dunno, can't quite get it right...

Yes, I've emailed him so he'll probably turn up here and launch a few of his missiles. ;)
