I'll watch for any motivators for her when I go tomorrow.drl2 wrote:Okay, I've allowed myself to wander into this thread now that I've seen the film. Overall I rather enjoyed it, but the actions of the female pilot (somehow didn't catch the character's name) didn't make sense to me. There's a huge difference between refusing to fire on innocents and turning on your comrades-in-arms. I wasn't convinced she had enough emotional investment in the Na'vi or the science team to "go native" and sacrifice herself for them.
Avatar, unspoilered thread. (Don't say you weren't warned.)

Okay, Trudy Chacon. First, this was a merc unit, so esprit de corps is expected to be lower. Trudy was the boffin driver (nerd herder for Merkins) and spent most of her time with them in the field. She was identifying with them before the shit hit the fan, so the transit to "contra" was easy.Gawdzilla wrote:I'll watch for any motivators for her when I go tomorrow.drl2 wrote:Okay, I've allowed myself to wander into this thread now that I've seen the film.
