A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

It's hard to get too excited about such a silly anachronism finally getting dropped, but it is a good thing to hear.

One less tie to bind society together culturally.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Re: New Scout Promise for Atheists.
Having been an atheist scout in my youth, and being the father of two atheist scouts today, I strongly agree with this. The scouts of Finland went through this discussion just a few years ago, and chose to keep God in the promise. One strong reason that was then given was that the international scouting community wouldn't allow anything else. Doesn't seem to have been a completely true statement.Kristie wrote:Too bad that's just for the UK.
Anyway. All scouting I, or my kids, have ever taken part in has been almost completely secular in practice.
