I don't how it's much different from a politician saying vote for us and we'll clean your kitchen twice a week, fluff your dogs and give you a tax cut.

Um, only if the person votes that way.klr wrote:Could? I assume that's just a sop to "due process". Looks pretty blatant to me.The Electrical Trades Union took a complaint to the Electoral Commission on Friday after receiving legal advice that the offer of $100 could constitute a bribe under section 326 of the Commonwealth Electoral Act.
Since it's still presumably a secret ballot it's more by way of an incentive, since the voter is under no obligation or compulsion to actually vote that way.
"A hundred quid to vote for your party? Sure, hand it over! Thanks! Now fuck off while I vote for whomever I please...like the party that lets you give me a hundred quid to try to induce me to vote for them."
Talk about your capitalist Libertarian redistribution system!
Besides, isn't bribery what all politicians do anyway when they make campaign promises that they have neither the intention nor the ability to fulfill?
"Vote for me and I'll put a chicken in every pot!" Bribes don't get any more blatant than that, do they?
