So long as you don't call them nazis they are not only forgiven but flourishing in the modern world. It's the name people don't like. Parse the ideaology and repackage it with the right jargon and put it out as a questionaire - you'll see most people are defacto nazis underneath....they might not want to kill jews but they all have a minority they despise whether it be chavs, the disabled, the new poor, the new rich and so on.Santa_Claus wrote:Could maybe even let them re-open a Death Camp or 2, and just see how they get on this time - I am sure they have learnt there lesson

I don't know if the statute of limitations has run out yet. Most of the world seems to have forgiven the Vikings for their plunder. I doubt the descendants of Carthage are still pissed at Rome. I'm not sure how people in China, Central Asia and Russia feel about the Mongol armies, but I'll bet there's at least some forgiveness there by now. The history of the Japanese Empire still seems to be a sore spot with many Chinese though, and that happened around the same time as the Nazis. So maybe a few more generations are needed.

If the Irish are anything to go by the statute of limitations is a minimum 400 years!Ian wrote:I don't know if the statute of limitations has run out yet. Vikings do not ask your forgiveness, and therefore forgiveness is not accepted.Ian wrote:I don't know if the statute of limitations has run out yet. Indeed. As a descendant of Vikings, I should have realized that. :twisted:Coito ergo sum wrote:Vikings do not ask your forgiveness, and therefore forgiveness is not accepted.

My mom's half is Irish, btw. So I'm descended from Vikings and people victimized by Vikings.

Erm unlike the nazis the japs have never being punished for their crimes or made to apologize and no nuking them doesn't count.Ian wrote: The history of the Japanese Empire still seems to be a sore spot with many Chinese though, and that happened around the same time as the Nazis. To forgive first there has to be justice and admitting that wrong was done.............japanese frequently deny any wrongdoing the most recent event was their revision of history books that almost completely expells anything that makes them look bad in the past.
Fuck they have a shrine to these bastards and political leaders visit regularly

I don't know if there are many nazis left alive, and most of the neonazis are no more nazis than communists living in the west are communists.

Re: The NAZIS - time to forgive & forget?
I look forward to the day when the land of my ancestors is united as a whole. I am not expecting it in my lifetime, but hope springs eternal. Oliver Cromwell destroyed Ireland so you can understand why some find it hard to forgive. And yet this was the same man who successfully challenged the notion of the Divine Right of the King to rule without question. He was pivotal in establishing democracy in this country in that respect. Consequently my attitude towards him is rather ambiguous, but I try to remain objective. If all thirty two Counties had been incorporated into the Irish Free State when it was created in 1922, then The Troubles may never have happened and over 2,000 individuals wouldn't have lost their lives. Yes I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but nevertheless.Rum wrote:If the Irish are anything to go by the statute of limitations is a minimum 400 years!Ian wrote:I don't know if the statute of limitations has run out yet. Shouldn't they be just as pissed with the Caliphate or other following Muslim invaders? How quickly people give up their identity when overrun (converted) so heavily!Ian wrote:Most of the world seems to have forgiven the Vikings for their plunder. Anyhow, I will only forgive the Vikings for their plundering when the Italians come to every English town & village and apologise for their naughtiness. And the Normans.
