Hello,
I'm part of the RDF diaspora. Frankly I'm relieved to keep my user name, but I feel naked without my beloved cuttlefish.
Anyway, just a bit about me--
I joined RDF in 2006 while in grad school, and the forum helped me cope and procrastinate. I definitely agree with comments that have already been lodged; RDF provided a sense of support, sanity, and community. Hopefully we'll build that here.
I'm an atheist and have pretty much been one for as long as I've been able to think. I was raised catholic. My parents sent me to catholic school for 8 years (former young catholic scholar here  ). After that I was required to attend religious classes. They also essentially coerced me into getting conformed; I wanted permission to live in France for a year and they wouldn't let me leave unless I got conformed. So, I tend to make a hobby of deriding catholicism--such an easy thing to do.
Other general stuff: I'm a "green shit", vegetarian, runner, swimmer, camper, sometimes cook, Trekkie, scrabble lover. I have a pet guinea pig, work as a librarian, and I'm headed to New Orleans next week.
I'm sure all that is more than you ever wanted to know. One last confession, when I heard RDF imploded one of my first reactions was "how am I going to cope without the smilies?!"
