"We are not numbers. We are not data." Yes you are, cretin. Suck it up. The Uber drivers discovered it some time ago. Your turn now.

LOL

I've got a cupboard full of plates I'm not using. They're good plates too. It's a criminal waste that I have this under-utilised asset just sitting there not earning any money. I think I might create a website that lets people who have dormant personal assets like plates, cups and cutlery rent them out to people who are looking for them. Anybody want to invest in my new business idea?

Details on how to do that can be found here.

We're all just one small cog in the giant industrial machine.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Fantastic money-making idea. Get millions of householders to rent out their excess plates. They get an income. You shave off a reasonable percentage. Everyone is happy, especially since the cost of occasional breakages, which are inevitable, are shared. Until that terrible earthquake pretty much breaks all plates, and with it the entire income stream on both sides. Then you invoke the contract's extenuating circumstances clause none of your punters seem to have paid any attention to because their eyes were blinded by the heavenly sun of libertarianism, individual freedom and the tremendous income stream that is only possible in, er, libertarian conditions.

It's a hot topic here because of all the seasonal rentals. A lot of people borrowed money to buy properties, assuming they could rent them out to cover the mortgage. Now they're squealing because everybody is canceling and they can't make their payments. Too bad, so sad, maybe you should have considered the possibility of some sort of economic downturn.
