Cheerleaders at the University of Washington are being hit with more spirit than they expected after the squad published a checklist of what potential cheerleaders should and shouldn't have during tryouts.
False eyelashes are a must, according to poster promoting tryouts, as are a "physically fit, athletic physique," a "bronze, beachy glow" and "Girl About Town lipstick." And good luck trying to make the Huskies cheer and dance team with a tattoo, ponytail or an outfit that covers the midriff. All those things are not acceptable according to the poster.
Within 24 hours of posting the fliers, the team took them down after the internet complained they "objectified women" and took away from the sport of cheerleading.
They are advertising for a particular, theatrical role, no matter how shallow it may be as a human activity. As such, they have a right to state what features they are looking for, and they can enjoy their little Barbie clone to their heart's content...
The real issue would come if such criteria were to be used for other roles, such as a shop only wanting salesgirls with a "cheerleader" look...

Cheerleading really is a valid sport. More so than men playing that silly kick ball game.

Male cheerleaders. Lol. The only thing lower on the athletic totem pole than a male cheerleader was the kid who cleaned up the jockstraps in the locker room. Female cheerleaders were royalty. If you dated a cheerleader you were the dog's fucking bollocks, but they generally only dated jocks. As a stoner I was out of that loop, though I did fuck one from a different school once. The Head Cheerleader (snigger) usually dated the captain of the football team, but at my high school the team captain was the brother of the head cheerleader. Though we were in the South we were a fancy ass private boarding school, so public sister shagging was frowned on. So she dated the captain of the baseball team, and her brother didn't date anyone because he was in the closet.
