ARMED STAND-OFF HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN NEVADA BETWEEN COWBOYS AND COPS
NEVADA — Do you know about the armed stand-off happening right now in Nevada between cowboys and cops?

Cliven Bundy and his family have been letting their cattle graze on their land since 1870, providing local grass-fed beef to the surrounding communities.

Unlike an industrial factory farm, the cattle on Bundy’s land are not confined in small spaces and injected with hormones — they are feral and roam freely.Recently, armed officers with the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) began using helicopters to chase Bundy’s cattle off the land. Suspicions have risen that they have also been isolating the cows to cause them to starve to death.

According to breaking reports, a corporation is using BLM as “hired muscle” to grab the land for a natural gas pipeline that runs underneath it, and Senator Harry Reid may be orchestrating the operation behind the scenes.

This is happening while government-loyalist media outlets try to convince Americans that the stand-off is happening because Bundy’s cattle are “endangering desert turtles.”

Rather than being driven from their land and losing their cattle, the Bundy family responded by declaring “range war” and calling for nationwide help. Thousands are now heading to the location in Nevada....

Actually, it's all over now. The Feds backed down. I'm seeing a few different possible angles. Maybe a bunch of gun nuts jumping at the opportunity. Maybe regular citizens standing up to a gummit that's progressing towards tyranny. Maybe more. Just wondering what others think, though I think I can predict somewhat.

No response to teh gummit's quiet confiscation of what used to be the commons? It reminds me of a certain time in France...

I don't understand. If it's their land, why can't they graze their cows on it?

Yet another example of private enterprise corrupting a branch of government. Yet another example of why private enterprise should be abolished. Greedy fuckers stop at nothing for private gain.

You need a good revolution... put the wealthy back in their place, in front of a firing squad.

And then, inevitably, they'll get taken over by their own fucking Bonaparte...

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again

Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie

Do ya?

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Looks to me like it's elite vs elite. Rich cattleman vs teh gummit. Teh gummit has quietly assumed commercial control over what was once the commons. "Public land" used to mean just that, instead of "land that you have to pay teh gummit to use."

Let's say, hypothetically, that a person decided to quit civilization and just live off the land like our ancestors did for many, many thousands of years. Couldn't do it legally in the U.S. Kill an animal or pluck a plant (even unprotected ones) or drop a fishing line in a stream without a license for food in the wrong place at the wrong time and you're looking at jail time. At least in the US. Some other countries haven't yet adopted the Gestapo approach to federal gummit.

You may say that those who showed up to support that rancher are testosterone-fueled yay-hoos, but from the video it looked like about half of them were women. From what I can tell, it looks like a bunch of people who are fed up with being pushed around and slowly corralled by insidious gummit regulations. Land of the Free, my hairy ass.

Not much in the Lamestream media about this. Huffpo has been conspicuously silent. Could it be, perhaps, just maybe, that this sort of naked totalitarian aggression doesn't mesh with their view of Kindly Ol' Uncle Sam?

The Federal government is out of control and needs to be reined in, hard. Maybe a few dead storm-troopers would help get the message out. Fuck 'em, I'm locked and loaded.

I say good for them, whoever they are.
They may well lose in the long-run - I doubt the gubmint will forgive and forget this...they're bound to try again with a different approach in future. Prolly amassing an army of bent officials to wage a dirty tricks campaign, or something, right now.

The BLM seriously miscalculated, but to someone's credit (who knows who) they decided it wouldn't be politic to roll flame throwing tanks like they did in Waco, nor to let snipers start murdering citizens like at Ruby Ridge. I think the fact that armed militias from several states were heading towards Nevada gave them pause. It's hard to spin a pitched battle. I agree with Jack, this ain't over.

But hey, according to the standard liberal mantra an armed populace is of no use against a tyrannical government

Maybe Nevada is the new 1860's South Carolina.

I hate treating serious things like this in the US facetiously, but I so wish there would be a big gun battle between the gubmint and militias. :awesome:

Seriously, the US needs to fall apart totally and get its shit back together again. In fact most of the anglo world needs to do that too, but fuck does the US need to revert to a period of barbarism to make them wake the fuck up.
