Georgia GOP briefed on Obama mind-control

Post by Gerald McGrew » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:47 pm

Offered without comment, because it kinda speaks for itself...

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/11 ... s-takeover
President Obama is using a Cold War-era mind-control technique known as "Delphi" to coerce Americans into accepting his plan for a United Nations-run communist dictatorship in which suburbanites will be forcibly relocated to cities. That's according to a four-hour briefing delivered to Republican state senators at the Georgia state Capitol last month...

...The meeting consisted of a PowerPoint presentation followed by a 90-minute screening of the anti-Agenda 21 documentary, Agenda: Grinding America Down. It was emceed by Field Searcy, a local conservative activist who was forced out of the Georgia Tea Party in April due to his endorsement of conspiracy theories about the president's birth certificate and the collapse of World Trade Center Tower 7. The presentation also featured a special video cameo from conservative talking-head Dick Morris in which the former Clinton aide warns that Obama "wants to force everyone into the cities from whence our ancestors fled."

About 23 minutes into the briefing, Searcy explained how President Obama, aided by liberal organizations like the Center for American Progress and business groups like local chambers of commerce, are secretly using mind-control techniques to push their plan for forcible relocation on the gullible public:

They do that by a process known as the Delphi technique. The Delphi technique was developed by the Rand Corporation during the Cold War as a mind-control technique. It's also known as "consensive process." But basically the goal of the Delphi technique is to lead a targeted group of people to a pre-determined outcome while keeping the illusion of being open to public input.

Um.. what? The Delphi method is not a cold war mind-control technique.
The name "Delphi" derives from the Oracle of Delphi. The authors of the method were not happy with this name, because it implies "something oracular, something smacking a little of the occult".[citation needed] The Delphi method is based on the assumption that group judgments are more valid than individual judgments.

The Delphi method was developed at the beginning of the Cold War to forecast the impact of technology on warfare.[9] In 1944, General Henry H. Arnold ordered the creation of the report for the U.S. Army Air Corps on the future technological capabilities that might be used by the military.

Different approaches were tried, but the shortcomings of traditional forecasting methods, such as theoretical approach, quantitative models or trend extrapolation, in areas where precise scientific laws have not been established yet, quickly became apparent. To combat these shortcomings, the Delphi method was developed by Project RAND during the 1950-1960s (1959) by Olaf Helmer, Norman Dalkey, and Nicholas Rescher.[10] It has been used ever since, together with various modifications and reformulations, such as the Imen-Delphi procedure.

Experts were asked to give their opinion on the probability, frequency, and intensity of possible enemy attacks. Other experts could anonymously give feedback. This process was repeated several times until a consensus emerged.

...

Key characteristics
The Delphi Method communication structure

The following key characteristics of the Delphi method help the participants to focus on the issues at hand and separate Delphi from other methodologies:
Structuring of information flow

The initial contributions from the experts are collected in the form of answers to questionnaires and their comments to these answers. The panel director controls the interactions among the participants by processing the information and filtering out irrelevant content. This avoids the negative effects of face-to-face panel discussions and solves the usual problems of group dynamics.
Regular feedback

Participants comment on their own forecasts, the responses of others and on the progress of the panel as a whole. At any moment they can revise their earlier statements. While in regular group meetings participants tend to stick to previously stated opinions and often conform too much to the group leader; the Delphi method prevents it.
Anonymity of the participants

Usually all participants remain anonymous. Their identity is not revealed, even after the completion of the final report. This prevents the authority, personality, or reputation of some participants from dominating others in the process. Arguably, it also frees participants (to some extent) from their personal biases, minimizes the "bandwagon effect" or "halo effect", allows free expression of opinions, encourages open critique, and facilitates admission of errors when revising earlier judgments.
Emphases are mine.

I took an analytic methods course when I was orking on my masters degree, and had to study the Delphi method.
Now I realize that I was just being brainwashed so the UN could take over.

I think this is evidence of a problem within the GOP that is at least equal to (and likely overlapping with) the "demographic issue" that's being talked about so much in pundit land. The GOP has embraced "fucking lunatics", as Audley put it. In different parts of the country, tea partiers are doing all sorts of crazy-assed things. They oppose wildlife refuges for manatees because they think it's part of a UN conspiracy. They attempt to ban the term "sea level rise" in eastern coastal states because they think global warming is a giant conspiracy.

Where I live (a conservative area), the traffic lights are terrible. None of them are sequenced, so it can take 1/2 hour to go 5 miles, even when there's almost no traffic. You just go from one red light to the next, over and over and over. People have raised this issue to city councilmen, and their answer is that timed traffic lights are an example of "smart, sustainable development" that is called for in UN Agenda 21, and by God, they'll have no part in that!! So due to their batshit loonitarian paranoia, we get to waste gas and time every single fucking day.

That's partially why this was the first year I came very close to voting a straight party ticket. Never done that before, but the Republican Party is sooooo fucking insane right now, when it's a coin flip between two candidates, the fact that one is associated with the GOP is the deciding factor for me.

I have been a longtime advocate of intelligence testing for politicians. With this, I think lunacy filters are also appropriate.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Delphi went down to Georgia it was lookin' for brains to wash...
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
