The Olympics thread

Post by Rum » Fri Jul 27, 2012 8:16 am

There's no avoiding it I suppose. Mrs Rum is a sports fan and the TV will be on endlessly and I fear I will be sucked in to the juvenile nationalism, at least at a token sort of level as the medal count mounts. I am actually looking forward to the opening ceremony which is supposed to be pretty impressive.

Who is looking forward to the games? Or not..

I gather there are supposed to be 70 sheep in the opening ceremony...

Will there be 70 welshmen as well?

There will be X number of Welshmen, where X/70 = the number of sheep per man.

I'm looking forward to it, I've always enjoyed watching the Olympics, it's the only time I like watching sports.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

I rarely watch sports, but I did watch the two finishes of the Tour de France last week.

You know for $37 million quid they could have just given everyone in the country a tab of Acid or some E. Would be much better than this pitiful shambles.
