German Supervolcano Ready To Blow?
http://www.earth-issues.com/2012/01/is- ... t-to-blow/
Is a super-volcano just 390 miles from London about to erupt?
•It’s similar in size to Mount Pinatubo, which in 1991 gave us the biggest eruption of the 20th century
•Billions of tons of ash and magma would be ejected
•Southern England would be covered in ash
A sleeping super-volcano in Germany is showing worrying signs of waking up.
It’s lurking just 390 miles away underneath the tranquil Laacher See lake near Bonn and is capable of ejecting billions of tons of magma.
This monster erupts every 10 to 12,000 years and last went off 12,900 years ago, so it could blow at any time.
(continued, debunked by WIRE which means it could happen tommorow?)

The Daily Mail is already concerned about the potential impact on house prices in the South East.

Probably means even more of the buggers'll come north.
Pray, do not mock me: I am a very foolish fond old man; And, to deal plainly, I fear I am not in my perfect mind.
Blah blah blah blah blah!

I thought this was going to be about Angela Merkel's sex life.German Supervolcano Ready To Blow?

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

I don't think Yellowstone is anything to worry about unless a lot of ice further north melts to relieve pressure on the cork? And that is unlikely isn't it?

It's German. It already blows.
