Re: Dennett chews-up and spits-out some theologians.
One word for that. Or is it two. BULLSHIT.
These people are bending over backwards, like Hitchens says, to accommodate their beliefs to reality.
I'm as incredulous as Dennet himself and wonder how he bothered to waste his time with them because I would've left at the first made-up word (kenotic).
I wish I could write as good as Dennet to truly express my opinion on this. I can speak it better anyway (when you can see my gestures and expressions).

Libertarianism: The belief that out of all the terrible things governments can do, helping people is the absolute worst.
Re: Dennett chews-up and spits-out some theologians.
I think the liberal, progressive, scientist types are too willing to please everybody. It seems to me that pro religious/science compatibility argument is based on opening up your mind, so that your brain does indeed fall out. Too many atheists wuss out and try to straddle the fence to prevent offending someone. Dennett is right, Dawkins is right, Hitchens is right, PZ Myers is right. Essentially, burn it with fire.
It's infuriating that the other side wins (terrible) arguments solely with conviction and chutzpah. Sometimes I think this entire debate degenerates into a scalpel vs. a hammer. The best answer would be a bigger hammer, and deal with the minutiae later. /rant
