Football player arrested for Jesus Ink

Post by HomerJay » Tue Oct 11, 2011 11:23 pm

A Colombian-born Saudi League soccer player was thrown in the slammer by the Saudi moral police for the most heinous of all crimes: wearing a short-sleeved shirt so that his religious tattoos were visible. Juan Pablo Pino was slapped in cuffs after people in a Riyadh shopping mall expressed outrage over the tattoos on his arm, particularly one of the face of Jesus.

Sharia law in Saudi Arabia prohibits the display of tattoos — religious or otherwise — in public.

Pino, who plays in the Saudi league, has expressed “deep sorrow” for his actions and said he respects the laws of the country. He was released from custody when a team delegate arrived and discussed the matter with the police.

A similar event occurred in Saudi Arabia last year when a Romanian player kissed the tattoo of a cross he had on his arm after scoring a goal, which also caused public outrage.

Saudi Arabia eh ... well, what else would we expect?

:nono:

I guess he'll be looking for a move to somewhere else soon ... somewhere with a lot less money, but a lot more tolerance.

When muslims in various western countries (and their leftist pals) express outrage at things like the Swiss voting against minarets, or the French banning burkhas, this sort of crap from the saudi arseholes should be rubbed in their faces...

Not a doubt in my mind.

I did have the great privilege of seeing a Jesuit going through customs into Dubai once. :funny:
