We are thrilled to confirm that Stephen Fry will be playing The Master of Laketown. I've known Stephen for several years, and we're developing a DAMBUSTERS movie together. In addition to his writing skills, he's a terrific actor and will create a very memorable Master for us.
This should be... interesting.

Personally I prefer the Hobbit (as a book) to LOTR! Can't wait for the film!

Special effects flicks ruining good books don't appeal to me. :coffee:

I just pictured Stephen joining a hobbit at a motel on the edge of town. :naughty:

Meh. I preferred Lord of the Rings. I didn't even finish The Hobbit. I think it was a children's book if I recall :?

Quite so. The company that bought it had an eleven year old boy review it for them.

I believe Tolkien wrote The Hobbit to be read aloud, actually. Something he wanted to read to his kids or grandkids.

It's a good read, but definitely faster and less demanding than LOTR.

For a very small book there is quite alot of story, two films will be just enuff especially if Gandalf goes off with Radagast to chase The Necromancer from Dol Guldur. A scene I'd love to see.

My dad read it to the 3 of us when we were little

I read it on acid. (Me, not the book. The book was on the table. The table kept walking away. The book didn't, it floated where the table had been. Then the table came back. I never asked it where it went or why it came back. That's the table's business, not mine.)

Oh my - I think he will be able to convey that certain decadence needed for the role quite well... Can't wait!

I'm wondering why they don't make the national lampoons version of tolkiens work into a movie?...at least it has realism.

Hobbit was fine but I could never get on with all that fiddly-dee singing in it.
