Ok, sorry to get carried away and lump you in with Seth. This happens when I have to deal with the sort of ridiculous conspiracy nonsense that Seth peddles. But to be clear here, Seth DOES believe the whole western world is socialist. He really DOES believe it will end in GULAGS and millions of deaths. I shit you not. He really believes this stuff. So, as long as you don't believe any of this nonsense, then I will once again apologise for possibly misrepresenting your argument.

I disagree with Seth all the time. Check out the "secular debate about abortion" thread.
Actually, CES agrees with Seth on most ideological issues. Judging from his posts anyway. He keeps mentioning the "abortion thread" as his opposition to seth. He disagrees on one issue as far as I can tell. Same librarian, knee jerk anti communist/socialist, pro imperialism, pro neo liberal free market capitalist stance.
Actually, I haven't agreed with Seth on most issues at all.

I didn't "keep" mentioning the abortion thread. I mentioned it.

I disagree with Seth on THIS issue, as a matter of fact. I don't think Obama is a crypto-Marxist whatever, etc. I don't agree with the recent suggestion that McCarthy was right.

Frankly, it's hard to think of where Seth and I agree. I think we both oppose the health care reform enacted in the US. So that might be one. I think we oppose it for different reasons though.

But, you've never been much concerned about accuracy. It doesn't serve your agenda.
Actually...you do, it just serves your agenda to keep a distance from his viewpoints. Hard to think of where you agree? Politically you guys are mirror images.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Actually, I don't. Of the viewpoints of his that I'm aware, I disagree with most of them. It's just easier for you to lump anyone who opposes your dopey college kid ideas into the same camp.

It's the corporations, man. You're playing into the corporate game! See, the corporations are trying to turn you into little Eichmanns so that "they" can make money. The corporations run the entire world. And now they fooled you into working for them.

"Dopey college kid ideas" is a reference to the quality of your arguments, and in this CES and I are in agreement. As to your college education, I hope you pay your parents back, because they got ripped off.

It's a remarkable hypocrisy that so many Marxists and other leftists rant and rave against Capitalism while doing so on a capitalistically-created device, on a capitalistically-created network, while sitting in the capitalistically-created basement of their Capitalist parents in their capitalistically-created underwear, isn't it?

You're being quite rude, writing about "leftists" as if they weren't present.

Yes, just like a librarian to criticize someone for having a college education. Anti intellectualism makes a comeback! :drunk:

Gotta love the hypocrisy of someone who objects to a "personal attack" when his ideas are called dopey, but who sees no issue with belittling and mocking others.

Not "a college education," a deficient college education. The quality of colleges varies widely, as do the standards for admission and graduation. And socialism does nothing to improve the quality of graduates. In fact, it does exactly the opposite, it makes a "college education" a "right," which means that the diploma one ends up with from a socialist college system is pretty much useful as toilet paper and not much more. Ever wonder why a "doctor" with a degree from a Russian university isn't allowed to practice medicine in the US, and why they have to go through about three years of additional education to be qualified?

Just having a diploma proves nothing, especially in socialist societies, where they pretty much HAVE to give you a diploma if you end the curriculum with a pulse.

And that's what I love about the Internet. You are what you write. You can have multiple PhDs, but if you can't construct a rational argument, any pundit on earth can dissect it and make you look like a fool. I suspect that's why PZ Myers doesn't participate here much. I expect that as a celebrity intellectual, it's not in his best academic or personal interests to spar with the hoi-polloi, in the event he gets trounced by someone without his academic credentials.

Talk about socialist egalitarianism, the Internet's got it. You are what you can produce, no more, no less. It's a great intellectual leveler that has no barriers to entry, and therefore a good many superior intellects who have never cared to play the academic popularity game can compete on an equal footing with the ivory-tower intellectuals. Which is why the ivory-tower intellectuals are almost never seen participating in forums like these.

Dawkins hosted a forum, but rarely participated. If he did, it was limited to expounding his thoughts and then abandoning the debate to the proletariat, much like Myers does in his blog. He says something controversial to generate debate, but rarely joins in the conversation. That's unintellectual ego-stroking in my book. But then again ego is what Dawkins and other celebrity Atheists are all about anyway, so it's unsurprising.

Yup. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Saul Alinsky - "Rules for Radicals."
