US under siege from 'far-left fascism', says Trump in Mount Rushmore speech
US president enflames national tensions with attack on ‘leftwing revolution’ and plan for national memorial of statues of ‘American heroes’

Standing beneath Mount Rushmore on the eve of American independence day, Donald Trump staged a defiant celebration of what critics say is white identity politics and warned the nation’s history is under siege from “far-left fascism”.

The US president defended the symbolism of statues and monuments before a packed crowd at an event that revelled in political incorrectness calculated to enflame the country’s current divisions and enrage liberal critics. There were few face masks and even fewer people of color on stage or in the stands.
Far-left fascism? An oxymoron.

I don't see the benefit. If didn't help with Boris
I don't know about Johnson, but Trump is motivated more by selfish concerns than the the good of others. Getting this thing might get him to take actions he has previously resisted. Just wearing a mask and recommending their use would be a major improvement

Maybe it wouldn't make a difference, But I'd like to see.

For a self-styled strongman, not to mention the fittest, healthiest, most vigorous and potent President in the history of the world, to succumb to a pesky little virus would be personally humiliating. But even so, if he were to go down with the lurgy the accompanying media soap opera would be great for him electorally while sucking most of the other news out of the headlines.

"President cancels summit amid health concerns"
"Trump has 'mild' Covid-19 symptoms but continues as normal"
"Brave leader battles on!"
"Trump admitted to hospital"
"Melania told President may not make it through the night say aides"
"'He's a fighter and will never give up on America' Jared Kushner tells daily news conference"
"Melania and family 'deeply moved' at the thoughts and prayers of the nation"
"Trump 'out of danger' say doctors"
"President leaves hospital - expected to make 'full recovery'"
"Trump given all clear in time for November vote"

As Christopher Wordsworth once famously foretold...
In the White House held to ransom
For the nations’s salvation bled
Donald Trump defeats the virus
And now has risen from his death bed.

Now the iron bars are broken,
Trump from death to life has sworn,
To smash The Left in righteous vengeance
On this wond'rous election morn.

You're talking about people who list stoping homosexuality as a political priority.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

I suspect they're mistaking a near constant fretting over gay sex for a careful examination of the issues.

Tell them that Lincoln was a gay, that John Wilkes Booth was his secret, jilted lover, and that the whole Confederacy retribution thing was a false-flag hoax put out by the government in cahoots with the mainstream media of the day.

22. "Their goal is not a better America. Their goal is to end America."
Under this construct, anyone who stands against Trump's is trying to bring about the "end' of the country. OK.

27. "Centuries from now, our legacy will be the cities we built, the champions we forged, the good that we did, and the monuments we created to inspire us all."
Wait, wait. We have a champion forge? How did I not know about this before?
