You believe the Pentagon, but you didn't believe me when I told you the exact same thing 14 pages ago? I'm so disappointed!FBM wrote:http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/11/world ... ?hpt=hp_t1N. Korea may be able to deliver nuke, Pentagon intel
(CNN) -- The Pentagon's intelligence arm has assessed with "moderate confidence" that North Korea has the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon with a ballistic missile though the reliability is believed to be "low."
Disclosed first by a congressman at a hearing on Thursday and then confirmed to CNN by the Defense Department, the assessment by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is the clearest acknowledgment yet by the United States about potential advances in North Korea's nuclear program.

You don't suppose maybe the Pentagon is trying the WMD claim approach, like the one that backfired on them after the Iraq War?

Clear, sunny day on the peninsula. Nice day for some experimental rocketry.

Could this be an invisible-WMD-type-ploy in order to justify pre-emptive action of some kind?
.......Or am I being overly cynical there?

Still, it's good to know there are other, equally cynical folks on here.

Actually, yeah. The intensity, frequency, the sort of things they're doing. People are more worried this time.Feck wrote:So is this time any different from any other time NK shows off ?

This isn't the only place I'm getting to say that. There are so many people out there who don't understand which bombs are difficult, and which are easy. It's almost as if they're not nuclear engineers!FBM wrote:I thought of your post the instant I saw the headline. I was waiting for your 'I told you so!'
There's a lot more press this time. However, aside from moving medium range missiles to the coast - presumably to avoid anything falling on North Korean land if there's a failure - they are reportedly not massing forces and there are no major military maneuvers. I expect a missile test on Monday, and not much else.FBM wrote:Actually, yeah. The intensity, frequency, the sort of things they're doing. That said, buying them off to redismantle their nuclear program with some fuel oil might be a reasonable investment if we can hold talks in the meantime to encourage them to liberalize their economy. Of course, the latter may not happen until we ourselves get a government which believes in a liberal economy.
