Campaign promises from politicians of any stamp all over the world are somewhat ephemeral and fragile...

That might be the nicest way I've heard it described.

Ah. You made a grievous mistake here by ignoring the critical distinction between classes of promises. Let me illustrate its importance by example: During the Australian general election campaign in 1996 the conservative opposition leader, John Howard, promised that he will not cut spending on Education, Health and Social Welfare. He won the election. Shortly after his win he cut spending on Education, Health and Social Welfare. When he was reminded of his promise that he will not cut spending on Education, Health and Social Welfare, he said something like: "Ah, yes I did, but that was a non-core promise."

It turned out that while non-core promises are great tools for winning elections, they can be broken with impunity. After Howard won the 1996 general election he won the next three as well, becoming the second most long-serving head of government in Australia. He was our Prime Minister for almost 12 years.

Biden to open Obamacare enrollment. We had to sign up in the fall for 1-2 months (only my wife for us):

“We don’t have enough money to manage another open enrollment, and that’s consistent with navigators across the country because the cuts that came down over the past four years are so severe,” said Jodi Ray, who leads the nation’s largest navigator program in Florida. Under Trump, her organization’s annual funding was slashed from $9 million to $1.6 million.

Enrollment during the annual six-week sign-up window that closed last month remained essentially flat at 8.3 million.

Because of growing health insurance costs, the overwhelming majority of enrollees are lower-income people whose coverage is heavily subsidized, while middle-income customers are increasingly being priced out.
(They signed up for less coverage under Trump plans in the open market).

Democratic lawmakers haven’t started seriously debating how to structure a public option, which is expected to face strong opposition by powerful health industry groups. Some Democratic Hill aides said they are wary about getting drawn into a protracted debate over expanding health coverage, particularly when a still-raging pandemic is drawing their immediate focus.

You can get an abortion again under Obamacare. Soon under Medicaid too.

Today, President Biden signed a Presidential Memorandum revoking the January 23, 2017 Presidential Memorandum on the Mexico City Policy. Pursuant to President Biden’s memorandum, the previous administration’s Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance policy has also been rescinded.
https://www.state.gov/prioritizing-sexu ... gn-policy/

This is about abortion. Here is Bush's memorandum which reinstated Reagan's policy, which Obama subsequently undid and Trump redid, and now Biden undoes again...
The Mexico City Policy announced by President Reagan in 1984 required nongovernmental organizations to agree as a condition of their receipt of Federal funds that such organizations would neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations. This policy was in effect until it was rescinded on January 22, 1993.

It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortions or advocate or actively promote abortion, either here or abroad. It is therefore my belief that the Mexico City Policy should be restored. Accordingly, I hereby rescind the "Memorandum for the Acting Administrator of the Agency for International Development, Subject: AID Family Planning Grants/Mexico City Policy," dated January 22, 1993, and I direct the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development to reinstate in full all of the requirements of the Mexico City Policy in effect on January 19, 1993.

Abortion isn't a method of family planning - i.e. contraception.

I would include abortion as part of family planning.

I'd include it as part of family planning services, but the article referred to it as "method of family planning". This raised an eyebrow for me because the suggestion that women routinely seek abortions as a form of contraception is a familiar trope of anti-abortionist rhetoric.

“Take him, I can’t anymore,” the woman reportedly told the cops.

The officers were forced to use force when the suspect resisted arrest, according to the report.
