Re: The suzerain Trump
Hey Trump, women and minorities hate you and Congress will just pretend to like you for 100 days:
And after castigating Washington elites for most of his inaugural address, Trump will rely on them to pass his ambitious agenda. Not everyone is willing to be rushed -- including his fellow Republicans.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for instance Sunday said that he was committed to an "orderly process" of repealing the Affordable Care Act and replacing it — a more stately timetable than that of the President. The Obamacare debate will lay down a marker as to whether Trump has the ability to charm, cajole or bully lawmakers to back his agenda.
Trump must also reconcile the flagrant differences of opinion within his own national security team on questions like NATO and Russia relations because any prolonged ideological duels in the cabinet could hamper his hopes of quickly reorienting US foreign policy.
And while Trump enters office as one of the most powerful Presidents of recent times — given GOP majorities on Capitol Hill, he can't completely ignore the opposition.
Giant crowds that poured onto the streets of multiple cities over the weekend heartened progressives traumatized by their election loss. They might also embolden Democrats to use what limited power they have to further slow the President's cabinet picks, agenda and soon-to-be named Supreme Court nominee.

It's just the lefty-dominated media recasting their war on Trump as "Trump's war on the media." Nevermind the fake news and the smear stories, it's Trump waging war on the press. It's a fairly clever reversal that seems to be working.Forty Two wrote:This thing about the crowd and audience size concerns me. Why are they bothering with garbage like that? The response to the media reports of how Trump didn't meet Obama's audience size should have been met with "are you kidding me? you're reporting on crowd size? We're not going to dignify this sort of thing with a response. Anyone have a substantive question?"
But, Spicer went Trumpian about it, and declared the largest audience ever (including both attendees and those viewing it via electronic media devices). However, I haven't found any evidence to back up Spicer's claim. I certainly think it's "possible" given the ever growing connectedness of the world, that this was the most viewed inauguration ever (just because more people have devices that would let them view it anytime, anywhere, than ever before. However, even acknowledging that possibility is not enough. Spicer needs to back up the claim with some sort of ratings numbers or data. They haven't. So, I dismiss his claim on that basis alone.
The crowd size did not appear to me, watching it on C-SPAN, to be nearly as big as Obama's crowd. So, in terms of actual attendees, I would give the nod to Obama for larger crowd size. Do I know for sure? No. But, the Obama crowds look far bigger - not even close.
But, who gives a flying fuck?

Re: The suzerain Trump
Such blatant lying from the administration on a seemingly trivial issue probably not worth lying about is the biggest concern here. If they can so brazenly lie about something so unimportant, what hope do we have of them not lying on issues that are harder to discern the truth of?

Re: The suzerain Trump
We're gonna win some wars now! War on Chicago!
"When I was young, we were always winning things in this country. We'd win with trade. We'd win with wars," Trump told CIA employees on Saturday, reprising his theme during a visit to the agency's headquarters in Virginia.
As President, the buck now stops with him as he targets those "wins" that he promised would soon start flowing if Americans took a chance on a political novice and self-described master of the deal.
He must now start acting rather than just talking about what he termed Friday in his inaugural address as the "American carnage" of lost lives, crime-ridden communities and deprived inner cities. Like Chicago.

Re: The suzerain Trump
In a way, Trump may be right to let these kind of battles be fought over small things. The next time CNN or MSNBC publishes some nonsense, he can come down on them hard, pointing out that they were very concerned with the accuracy of crowd numbers, but unconcerned about the accuracy of something important....Śiva wrote:It's just the lefty-dominated media recasting their war on Trump as "Trump's war on the media." I couldn't believe it, though, the other day I saw Rachel Maddow coming out in favor of the stationing of US troops in former Soviet Bloc states. She was praising Obama for moving up the date those troops were to be stationed there, right at the Russian border. She then declared that if Trump orders those troops off the Russian border, then we'll know that Putin has something on Trump.
I mean, it used to be the liberal Democratic policy to be against moving NATO and American forces into the former Soviet sphere. I remember decades of calls for American bases to leave Germany, and for the US not to build any sort of missile shield in Europe - that was all aggressive provocation against Russia. Now, when Obama does it, it's liberal policy...to park troops right on the Russian border....
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

As soon as we get rid of vaccines, we can be rid of freaky autistic people!
http://www.forbes.com/sites/emilywillin ... a2be4742fa
In addition to doing this nonfavor to autistic people by way of coying a relationship with RFK, Jr., Trump is coming at the autistic community on its flanks. His nominee for attorney general, Jeff Sessions, thinks that the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act "undermines the educational process," and he shows a clear ignorance of this and other federal protections for disabled children in the classroom. Based on Sessions' own comments, if he had his way, these protections would be gutted or ignored, leaving autistic students and other disabled children warehoused and isolated, treated like second-class citizens or worse. Trump's choice for education secretary, Betsy DeVos, is no fan of public schools, the only place where students with disabilities can receive their federally mandated educational rights.

Our President, Donald J. Trump, has just issued a proclamation declaring his own inauguration day to be a “National Day of Patriotic Devotion.”

Re: The suzerain Trump
He's made some backwards proclamation about abortion education. So much for 42's claim that Trump is a liberal.

Re: The suzerain Trump
Claqueurs, all the way, around Trump!
http://www.politicususa.com/2017/01/23/ ... visit.htmlCBS News confirmed reports that President Donald Trump brought a studio audience to his visit with the CIA on Saturday. The news agency reports that an official said the visit left a wake of "unease," “made relations with the intelligence community worse," and was “uncomfortable.”
