.22LR pistols make decent self-defence weapons. 3 shots and they'll drop. 1 if you're a good shot.

I'll stick with my .45 ACP subcompact.

While being an excellent shot with a .22 LR might work, I'd rather carry something that'll penetrate deeper and that I can use jacketed hollow points with. I get that a .22 is better than no gun at all, but not why someone would specifically want one for the purpose of self defense.

The only ones I know of are the Beretta Bobcat and the Taurus PT-22 and I've heard both of those are prone to jam.

Legal issues aside, the smallest .22LRs you'll probably find are the Beretta Bobcat type: http://www.berettausa.com/products/model-21-bobcat/

And yes, they make it in .22LR and .25ACP.

The .32ACP is the Tomcat.

I believe the Taurus model 22 line is close to the same size, and the Walther just slightly bigger.

That would be nice.

Ultimately the pistol you carry is far more useful than the one you leave at home, so if a super-light, extremely small gun is what you want, go for it. I picked what I'm comfortable carrying every day, and what I can shoot well.

Which shows you have not done your research. One of the main reasons drugs fail so often is exactly what you just said. If you pile a whole lot of drugs into your stomach, it causes irritation and vomiting. Believe it or not, too many drugs makes it less likely, not more, that you will succeed in killing yourself.

I have already had to repeat each of my arguments about three times, and gun lovers simply come back to repeating the claims I have already debunked. A man can get sick of that sort of thing.
