If that is the case, then why has NZ less than a quarter of the homicides of the USA? Because I can guarantee you that we have as much or more gang problems, and drug problems. For example, almost 25% of the population is known to regularly smoke cannabis, and all cannabis is illegal and mainly available from gang drug pushers.
This isn't a game of one-upmanship I like to play when it comes to my country, but if you think that NZ has a gang problem, visit Detroit for a week and tell me again how much NZ has in the way of gang problems.

The other day I made a 2 1/2" group at 200 yards with my .308. I was so happy I jacked off over my rifle.
Just though you'd like to know.
PS. It was a 10 shot group with no rest used.
Irons or glass?

Good for you, Pord.
As I said earlier, I have no problem with firearms that have a legitimate use, like hunting rifles. If you get pleasure from using them for target shooting, then I am happy for you.
Don't you think that jacking off over a Playboy might be better, though?
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

Every country has areas that are better or worse than other areas.

Yes, and the US has its fair share of areas in major cities where even the police won't go without damn good reason. The US is unique in being a first world nation with a third world gang problem. Even here in Boston, a comparatively safe city, nearly every newspaper report of a homicide is gang or drug related.

Seth - This is a straight up no tricks question. I'm now in DC and living in a 'transitional' neighborhood where I heard gunfire a few nights ago. My landlady recommends that I leave the compound by a back route when on foot, especially at night. I've contemplated a concealed carry permit when I was in Texas, but I don't know the laws here yet. However, even if I could legally conceal carry, I am concerned about what will happen when I carry and walk to the national mall and into the Smithsonian, for example. What happens then to people who are carrying? I'm not sure, but I think even the Metro transportation system would frown on it.

That was my first guess, but I'd never heard it termed like that before.

Despite the Supreme Court ruling against the district in DC vs Heller, they are still doing everything in their power to keep citizens from carrying concealed. As such, I believe it is still the case that one cannot acquire a permit to carry concealed in DC, and it's difficult to even acquire a handgun. DC is one of the least permissive parts of the country in regards to firearms in general and especially towards concealed carry.
