Democrats have no effective counter narrative so this form of bigotry is free money for the republicans.
They're willing to help stoke it with dirty tricks (in American political parlance: ratfucking).
'Right-wing media and the mystery of Texas’ transgender mailers'
On Thursday night, the smear at the heart of the mysterious transgender mailers that have rocked the final weeks of the midterm elections in Texas completed its journey. What began as baseless social media whispers quickly ascended the ladder of conservative influence, jumped into mailboxes across the Lone Star State and ultimately into the comforting prime-time embrace of Fox News.
At a town hall in Fort Worth, a Texas mother of six named Rebekah Smith told Vice President JD Vance that her 11-year-old daughter had received a letter explaining how to transition without her parents ever knowing, and asked how Republicans would keep the government out of her family. “I don’t know who sent that letter to your child,” the vice president said, “but I think the person who sends a letter to an 11-year-old about gender transition, what I call that in my family is a pervert, and that person ought to go to prison.” Host Jesse Watters, never one to let a grievance go to waste, promised that Fox would investigate “this perverted letter.” Vance asked Smith to talk to his staff because he would “like the Department of Justice to investigate that” as well.
Watters rushed to promote the spectacle. “WHOA! Texas MOM tells JD Vance her DAUGHTER received a letter telling her TO TRANSITION TO A BOY,” he posted on X, followed by Vance’s promise. Missing from that framing was the question that should have governed the segment: Who actually sent the material?
Nobody on that stage mentioned that the pamphlet was a fake. Nobody mentioned that the real transgender advocacy group named inside it had disavowed the mailer. Nobody mentioned that sworn testimony filed that same week had tied the text messages that accompanied it to a national Republican organization. The vice president was asking federal prosecutors to chase a forgery that may well have originated in his own party’s orbit — and he was doing it on a network whose viewers had been marinating in that forgery for weeks.

Local US election officials are bracing for the possibility of violence and intimidation when Americans turn up to vote at the November midterm elections.
The Trump administration has not ruled out deploying armed law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, to polling booths.
Pro-democracy advocates fear Donald Trump will reject the midterm election results if the Democrats win control of Congress.
Local election officials at the United States's crucial midterm elections are preparing to confront armed federal agents if they are deployed to polling booths by the Trump administration.
In the US state of Colorado, Denver chief election official Paul López said voters were concerned by the threat of federal agents showing up at the polls, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
"They're authoritarian tactics," López told Four Corners.
"It is absolutely illegal per US federal law for any federal agent, for any troop or anybody trying to intimidate voters at the polls.
"And it's my expectation, if somebody violates that and refuses that order, that they be arrested."
With US President Donald Trump's approval rating at a record low, and polls suggesting the Democrats will win the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate, some fear he may meddle in the midterms or even reject the results.

What is racism, anyway?
You're racist for making such an inflammatory accusation!
In a post on X, [Trumpist Secretary of Agriculture] Rollins reminded her more than 212,000 followers that defrauding federal food assistance programs was a crime and illustrated the point with a mock Halloween costume labeled “SNAP FRAUDSTER.” The program, formally the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, pays low-income Americans an average of $6.30 per day.
...
The mock Halloween costume features a depiction of an African American man giving the middle finger while wearing copious amounts of jewelry. The man is seen holding a $1 bill set aflame and standing in front of piles of cash and a lighter. The mock costume notes the man’s “questionable fashion choices” and includes “stacks of taxpayers cash,” “fake grills,” an “EBT card” and a pair of “handcuffs.”
