Yep. Kilkenny started as an export version of Smithwicks then became its own distinct brew. A very tasty brew. So tasty I drink 12 or 13 pints of it in a sitting whenever I can.

It's properly served the same way as Guinness. Of course I only drink it at the pub. Canned or bottled, like Guinness, it is a pale shadow of itself.
