I just watched this - if you are a dog lover you will love this movie - Hachiko: A Dog's Story (2009) directed by Lasse Hallström, with Richard Gere and Joan Allen. It's a major tear-jerker so have plenty of kleenex handy!

I just watched The Pick of Destiny. A bit lame and lacking direction but at least all the songs were really funny.

Just watched Where the Wild Things Are.
A lot of people on other forums were disappointed that this didn't get any Oscar mentions at all and some critics have said it was the years best film and I have to say that I mostly agree with them.
The films about a boy, Max, who after being given out to by his mum runs off into a nearby woods and then goes off into a land where the Wild Things are and there he plays out the days events leading up to him being given out to in his head. Each of the monsters seems to represent aspects of his character or his mum or sister.
I thought it was a very touching film and is well worth a look.
Its not for all tastes though. If you're like this reviewer...

In other words can't put yourself into a mind of a child and consequently are patronising to what kids can understand it may not be for you.It's also too adult in its concerns to be fully understood by most children. And paradoxically, it's also too child-like in its construction to be appreciated by most adults.
Another thing about it is that it is quite sad but happy at the same time. I think its just a reflection of the child feeling sad for getting into trouble.

Just got through watching Jim Jarmusch's latest, The Limits of Control. Released in the middle of last year but largely ignored by the mainstream cinemas.
It was a good film if you like slow-paced, atmospheric, artsy and enigmatic films where very little is explained but it all looks beautiful. For the tale of a hitman on a mission, it was incredibly short on any action sequences - the central character (referred to in the credits as "The Lone Man") only moves faster than his Tai Chi exercises in about 3 scenes, and then only briefly. The soundtrack is worth a mention - you can always rely on Jim to provide ear-candy that is both eclectic and amazing and in this film he doesn't disappoint on either score, relying on Japanese experimental metallers Boris for most of the music - a soundtrack album I will be tracking down.
If you like Jarmusch and appreciate has languid, laconic style, you will probably not be disappointed. If you need a car-chase or a gunfight every 10 minutes, skip this one.
Oh, and watch out for the rehearsing flamenco dancer about halfway through - she is incredible!

I haven't seen a single movie in weeks now. That coming from a guy that used to go to the cinema 3 times a week. Last Sunday I was even standing in line at the Metropolis in Antwerp and just turned around and left.

There's a film I'm looking for released a couple of years back I was meant to watch and forgot. It is documentary about an American politician. I guess you could say its a feature length interview. I think the politician was Republican and maybe involved in Watergate. Something Gawd said on another thread just reminded me of it.
